What kinda poll is this?

Where is the cap going to be at? Who are we resigning? What are those values? Who’s the new GM? Can he(or she) negotiate? Answers those first, then you can ask how much a random free agent wide receiver should be paid, down to the 1 millionth.

By deciding on how much he's worth, you get to see how much of the Rams CAP would be allocated to him and how much is left.

There are a couple of articles on the front page that tell you more about the money available to spend. I just didn’t want to re-hash the numbers, but I’ll include them in future FA posts

I honestly don’t think the Rams are ready to spend that kind of money on a single player… On the Rams official MB (which sucks compared to this), a poster listed a lot of FA that the Rams should persue and all of which would be fundamental in creating a base for the Rams.. By that, I mean starters on offense and defense who will be on the field 90% of a game when it’s their time… With that, I think the Rams are going to go after smaller names but with equal talent and save some money while doing it. It’d be great to have this guy on the field for the Rams, but I don’t think this is the year to get someone like him.

If you were given the choice between Colston and Lloyd at the $5 mil per year number, who would you choose?

Colston obviously....

But that’s just by going off of namesake alone and what I’ve seen from the two players playing. Granted, Lloyd does have amazing catch ability and jump, I think I’d have to go with the Saints WR on this one.

Over 1K Yards

Receiving in 5 out of 6 seasons. Only lost the ball 4 times in six season with all those touches. Consistent and reliable WR. I would open the negotiations with an offer of a 3 year deal; at 3.5 mil per year.

The knock on him is that he commits a lot of penalties but here is some thing interesting about his 2010 season. He and Nnamdi Asomugha teamed together to form the #1 CB tandem in the NFL surrendering a stingy 38% completion rating and only 4 TD’s given up rivaling the Jets tandem of Revis and Cromartie at 43% and 10 TD’s. Routt himself would finish with 10 lowest Opp QB rating (69%) and the 2nd lowest comp % in the NFL among all corners behind Revis

Of this did happen and Lloyd left, we trade down with Washington and take blackmon there, for some reason I think he could drop there, Colston at the 1 and Blackmon at the 2 would be great..

the Rams are going to have to overpay him to come here. My guess is any big named free agents going to want 30% over what a decent team is gonna pay them if the Rams want them to come here. Six million or more, bank on it!

BTW. I don't think the Rams should even bother going after big names in free agency right now.

They’ll want monster huge contracts and won’t live up to those contracts. Look at Albert Haynesworth. The Rams should get depth players and decent priced starters through free agency and use the draft to build the talent base of the team. Otherwise they’ll face salary cap hell before the team has a championship team together.

Your point about him being unhappy in Washington is valid. He was however hired to play in a 4-3 defense, which then changed before he got there, when he was informed he’d play NT in a 3-4. His asshole coach also tried to embarrass him by making him do drills, simply to prove a point because he didn’t come to that particular asshole coaches offseason workouts. I suppose with a check for $40+ million sitting on your coffee table at home, and as the best DT in football, you’d back down if a guy who won a couple of SB’s because he had one of the greatest QB’s of all time was trying to push your buttons and embarrass you too

I’m only defending Haynesworth because you’re putting me in a position to, with your aggressive ‘I know better’ mentality. I’ll stick by what I initially said, and state that at the right price, I’m interested. And again, if by some odd fate he ends up in a Rams uniform next season, I’ll trust that it’s because Fisher thought it was a good move for our team. Realistic? Probably not. If the bottom line were that I ‘liked him and you don’t then you would’ve left it at that, and not commented about you don’t want him on ‘your’ team.

And you keep referencing his play on the Pats, as if I don’t know his performance was far worse then what it was ‘six years ago’ which wasn’t even his prime.

I still think Pierre Garcon could come really cheap

I think he’s making next to league minimum and was nearly non-existent last year (go figure). I just think there’s going to be A LOT of interest if he indeed hits the FA market

Colston looks like a Raider receiver. They’ll go after him big time. I’d almost put money on it he’s wearing silver and black next preseason.

the Raiders have some pretty damn good players, they just can’t seem to put it all together.

WR is definitely a need, and they clearly won’t get one in the draft, since they essentially won’t have one

I can dig it....clearly it would be a completely different core

the only one I’d hesitate on is Steve Smith of the Eagles. He didn’t do a whole lot last year with his 4mil contract

but if we’ve got either 3 new receivers next year, via FA or draft, we’ll be much better for it!

I think Smith was caght on a "clicky" team that never really let him in. I just don't see him as a #1 WR though. If you are going to spend long $$$, why not get a #1 WR?

buckeye’s list, in terms of depth chart, looks great to me. I’d be ok if he were our 3, but much like him, I’d like to see a nice FA acquisition coupled with a young stud in the draft
