I planned just to ignore the matter. Impossible. The NFL media cycle abhors a vacuum, and Randy Moss filled it with his desperate pleas for attention online lately. St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher got dragged into the mix, asked about Moss' comment that he would like to play again in 2012.
Randy Moss? In St. Louis? Really? Let's get to the bottom of this and open it up for a little late night discussion.

Fisher told the Post-Dispatch that he holds Moss in high regard, having coached him for a brief period in 2010. Fisher even called him a "terrific teammate" and said "he did a great job in our locker room."
He also left the door open, however slightly, for facilitating Moss' return to the NFL. Specifically, Fisher replied when asked about the possibility of Moss in a Rams uniform, "At this point it's too early to say."
It is too early to say because Fisher, the GM and staff are just now beginning the process of evaluating the current roster. Moss, for his part, has yet to be seen by coaches in a workout, though he says he can still run a 4.3 ... he sure didn't look like he could during his last season in the league.
Fisher has a reputation, a well deserved one, for being able to work with, um, high maintenance players. In drafts with the Titans, Fisher has been rewarded for his willingness to take chances on players other teams would avoid because of personality concerns and character questions.
But Randy Moss at 35? I'm skeptical. I would like to hear your thoughts though.

Nope
If we want a fast receiver with “diva issues” we can go get Desean Jackson. He’s younger & faster
EddieP - February 16, 2012
I agree
Let’s forget for a moment that’s it’s Randy Moss and whatever comes along with that. The bottom line is that when you rebuild a team, you don’t start with 35 year old players. You save that roster spot for someone who can help long term. Jackson fits that bill, Moss does not.
RamHock - February 17, 2012
NO!!!!
Mark Jaramillo - February 16, 2012
No
I don’t know if he’ll have diva issues, pretty sure AARP would reject his claim if he becomes a diva (he’s that old)
sergey606 - February 16, 2012
Can still run a 4.3
The best deep threat in NFL history
Throw 4 deep balls to him and he’s guaranteed to atleast catch one ( Can yous say that about anyone else in FA?)
If he checks out and the other FAs don’t come AND Lloyd leaves, I would love for Moss ot be on one side and Blackmon on the other. You guys are acting like we have a lot of options. Last time I checked we just finished as the worst team in the NFL (Yes the Colts could have beat us).
RG31 - February 16, 2012
You really think he runs a 4.3?
Believe it when I see it.
jmo53 - February 16, 2012 via Android app
analysts have said that he's lost a step
he didn’t do much in Minn and Tenn after getting dumped.
sergey606 - February 16, 2012
Still better than any of our wide receivers
If he works out and checks out, why not? Even if he doesn’t catch it he’ll still demand a double team..
RG31 - February 16, 2012
not anymore he isn't
if we sign a Stevie or DJax or VJax and draft Blackmon, we have 2 solid WRs
sergey606 - February 16, 2012
Yes, name one receiver on our roster thats better than him..
RG31 - February 16, 2012 via mobile
Greg Salas
pretty sure he had more catches in the shortened season than Moss had last 2 seasons combined – oh wait, he didn’t play this year!
sergey606 - February 16, 2012
Your kiddin, right?
RG31 - February 16, 2012 via mobile
wow...
this guy is a joke someone delete this mans account asap pleassseee!!!! did u really say salas over moss hahahaha id take 40yr old moss over 26 salas some rams fans just lie to them selfs a little to much….. q=/
Joshua_rams_truefan - February 17, 2012
All I heard him say was that Salas has had more catches his rookie year
than Moss has had in the past 2 seasons combined.
RAMpage28 - February 17, 2012
that's exactly I what I said. I'm sticking with it.
Seeing how Salas finished the season before his injury, he’ll improve a lot, he was a rookie, not an AARP member like Moss.
Funny thing is that I hated Salas at the start, he’s improved a lot. But he’s a slot guy, Moss is an outside WR
sergey606 - February 17, 2012
Yup Salas over moss.
Rolling Rams gathers no moss.
VETT - February 17, 2012
wow...
this guy is a douche.
sergey606 - February 17, 2012
Actually
Moss has one more catch…and 5 more TD’s.
Scato - February 17, 2012
And then 0 catches for 0 TD this year
because no one wanted him.
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
I like all of our year 2 pass catchers potential over Moss.
I know there wasn’t a lot of stats to base this off of but Moss’ age and the short offseason for rookies make them more attractive than Moss imo. Moss is said to be a #3 receiver on a new team and we have plenty of that.
jmo53 - February 16, 2012 via Android app
we need a #1
jmo53 - February 16, 2012 via Android app
hey ill take Moss as a #3
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
he's gunna want more than #3 money.
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
Yea I can see you dont want him here
But saying that any wr on this team is anywhere near his level is ludicrous..
RG31 - February 16, 2012 via mobile
I said potential.
We will not win a Superbowl with Moss. Why waste a roster spot on him with the cap room available. He is not the mentor the rooks need anyway(see Wayne). Think youth. We got a couple years to go. Draft and sign young guys that will be here a while.
jmo53 - February 16, 2012 via Android app
I said we could add Blackmon as well
But fisher said he was a great teammate and wasn’t bad in the locker room either. I think he could be a nice mentor to Blackmon..
RG31 - February 16, 2012 via mobile
I'd take Blackmon 4 or 6
I guess we will see what Fish thinks of him in a couple months. If you want to look at the rookies stats last year you gotta look at his last years stats too. I just think there’s better options out there.
jmo53 - February 16, 2012 via Android app
+1
RAMSALLTHEWAY - February 16, 2012
most of roster spots at WR are a waste.
Gibson, DX, Pettis, and who knows about Lloyd. I mean with what we saw last year why the hell not? Old ass moss cannot be any worse than gibson.
ramsrule - February 17, 2012
I say grab a #1WR in FA which Moss is not
and get another WR in the 2nd or 3rd round. Wright, Sanu, Jeffrey, D Jones, McNutt.
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
What if Gibson turns into L Robinson once released?
Give these guys someone to take pressure off them and I bet they get better.
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
I hear that for the rookies, but in Gibsons case I feel we have had enough time to see what he can do.
He has had sooooo many opportunities to shine and it just hasent happened. I am hoping we only take a WR this year in the first or second round. The 3-4 round WR picks have been pissing me off for the last few years. A FA WR and WR from rounds 1-2 would be great IMO.
ramsrule - February 17, 2012
Agreed
If we keep Gibson I just might go insane..
RG31 - February 17, 2012 via mobile
agree about Gibson
probably going to be cut going through camp if he doesn’t show up big. I just can’t stand seeing former under coached Rams go shine on another team.
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
why waste a fan spot with you hahaha
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
On 1 out of 5 plays he doesn't take off... correct I agree.
VTramsFan - February 17, 2012
Now youre twisting my words..
RG31 - February 17, 2012 via mobile
RG you the only one that thinks like me lol
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
no
and not even for league minimum. too old. we need young talent.
jmo53 - February 16, 2012 via Android app
Why not?
Y’all have mentioned several other players who are around the same age and older than Randy. However not too many will bring the high-profile status that he can bring, something that has been lacking around here since the GSOT days. He know he will get paid, but not anything crazy because he took a year off. Hell, a Randy at 75 percent would be better than anything on the current roster minus Brandon (maybe). Also, I don’t remember him causing too much ruckus during his brief stint with the Titans while Fisher was there even though he was a non-factor and buried on the sidelines at times, which says a lot about his respect for Fisher (plus). Get another good free-agent receiver, plus Blackmon for him to mentor, and that may be the motivation for him to play hard for his last ffew years. Of all players to come play out the last few years of their career as a Ram, Randy Moss would definitely be a the top of my list.
willEYEam - February 16, 2012
Do you want Moss to teach Blackmon how to moon the fans?
VETT - February 17, 2012
If that means that he has taught him how to successfully get into the endzone on a regular basis........YES
willEYEam - February 17, 2012
yes if he moons you lmfao
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
Hey I'll take him
I don’t want to lose any cap space on him without protection but, you can’t say your done with the 4 pillars and then rule him out. Give him a short leash and lets see what happens. The rest of the locker room has to be filled with men, not boys so he shouldn’t have the ability to be a cancer.
dbcouver - February 16, 2012
agree 100%
iplaythedrums - February 16, 2012 via mobile
we should give him a low salary though
sergey606 - February 16, 2012
he is a cancer
has been all his career
G unit Rams - February 16, 2012

Kinda random but that pic with CJ2K made me notice.

jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
Hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rcoon1307 - February 16, 2012 via mobile
The only way I'd be fine with taking Moss
is if we sign another WR like Stevie. Then Stevie, Moss, Amendola, DX, Gibson, Pettis and Salas get to fight for their jobs.
sergey606 - February 16, 2012
Again. With a long term #1WR like Stevie
why not let the younger guys develop while filling other holes and see what we have. This rebuild will take at least a couple years. We need a #1WR, not depth.
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
we need both
see what happened to our CBs last year because of the lack of depth. We have to get that #1 and build depth; look what happened in Tenn last year, Britt goes down, they lose the #1; Andre Johnson went down for some games in Hou – gotta have depth no matter what stage of rebuilding you’re in.
It doesn’t have to be like the Pacific Ocean depth, but we can’t go from a #1 WR to a #15 (on some teams) in one injury.
sergey606 - February 17, 2012
well no one said lets just have Moss hahaha sure we need other WR's
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
Jeff Fisher said that he was a great teammate, and didn't hurt the locker room at all.
I would take him in a heart beat. He would be cheaper then the rest of the high class receivers, and if he is motivated can help us. We really don’t have a lot of cap, and with what we have, we would be LUCKY to get any high top receiver. To expensive, even if we cut Smith. We would only be able to get a receiver and maybe one okay free agent. Moss would be cheaper and we could get a DT or OLB with more cap space to work with. And by the way, some of the people that are complaining about him having an attitude, are the same people that BITCHED the whole season and offseason about 4 pillars.
So in a shorter sentence, I’ll take him in a heartbeat if the price is right. (1-2million)
RAMSALLTHEWAY - February 16, 2012
This +1
ramswo85 - February 16, 2012
Chad J. and Plex did shit last year they both sucked Moss is better then both together
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
Moss
I can see a team close to being Super Bowl contenders possibly going after Moss. But the Rams aren’t close…YET! So why bring Moss in? Does a 2-14 team really need a guy like him? To go 4-12? I say start from the ground up. Draft a young WR with potential. Or sign a younger WR free agent like a DeSean Jackson, Vincent Jackson, Mario Manningham, Etc. They’ll be around to help the Rams become a winner. Moss won’t!
Ricksome - February 16, 2012
+1
jmo53 - February 16, 2012 via Android app
I'll use the same excuses you guys give Moss
Desean is going to get franchised, Vincent is getting up there, isn’t fast, and mario manningham is another #3 receiver, we need a number 1. Sorry guys, with our cap space, you guys act like we have 30-40 million cao. We don’t.
RAMSALLTHEWAY - February 16, 2012
lol right
G unit Rams - February 16, 2012
give me manningham or desean anyday
G unit Rams - February 16, 2012
Desean would be nice
next year, when we have 45 and his tag is up
RAMSALLTHEWAY - February 16, 2012
id take Desean he should have been ours any ways fucking Linnehan picks Avery
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
YESSSSSS
lets sign him and cut a first round pick for him. then lets become the oldest team in league history. we are NOT one player away from the super bowl ,STOP with this getting over the hill players for one year injury reserve visits. do we ever learn, thank god Fisher unlike spags doesnt think like fans online
G unit Rams - February 16, 2012
LOL
did you know our defense is the 3rd oldest in the league. Were already there bro!

As much of a personal hatred I have against Moss
I can’t help but be sad about this. He was probably my favorite player to watch growing up. So exciting, and never even looked like he had to try in order to beat people deep. This is pathetic to watch a guy who doesn’t get it, no one wants you.

sad to see that a mega talent like moss had such a bad attitude that teams treat him like he has cooties lol
Ram_Redemption - February 17, 2012 via mobile
Well, he's not that good at this point
And he still has the attitude, so I wouldn’t want him. It’s sad to see a person who simply can’t get “you can’t be this big of an ass and not have to deal with the fact no one likes you at some point”
King Sam Rules! - February 17, 2012 via mobile

I’d give it a shot if we could get him for cheap
johnniewarthawg - February 17, 2012
If it's 2 mil or less
sign me, and him, up! Send him on streaks every damn play. We can throw it up, hope for the big catch or interference call. Otherwise, we hit Blackmon underneath. All of this made possible because our new LT did a spectacular job of keeping Sam upright
DCRamFan - February 17, 2012

Randy Moss,pull my figer wtf?
RAMIFICATION - February 17, 2012
Fisher is being politically correct
The reason that the Rams won’t sign Moss is because he was completely ineffective in a Titan’s uniform and this was two years ago. How much hippie lettuce has Moss smoked in the last two years? Fisher doesn’t want any part of an aging Moss.
Mister T - February 17, 2012
Fred Stanford calls it Puerto Rican Lettuce that must be why he can still run a 4.3 he thinks the cops are chasing him
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
Let's not even discuss this.
Please?
I’m sure he ran a 4.3 with a stiff wind at his back with 12 hours of rest and a week or working out in his first sprint of the day.
Put him in a game and I guarantee you’ll see him take off plays (as usual) all the while laughing to the bank with his last major payout.
Best wishes Randy, but sry, face the music… you’re not the same Randy Moss you once were.
VTramsFan - February 17, 2012
VT i dont think any one really believed the 4.3 now do you ,that was a joke im sure lol dn
Randy cant run a 5.3 at this point in time but he can still make some plays ,i prefer him to Gibson any day of the week or dont you think so ?
Rammon105 - February 17, 2012
Bring him in for a private workout
Rams brothers, I was initially opposed to this but we may not have too many options out there because of the salary cap and things may even get worse if we cannot resign Lloyd.
I would bring him in and see how ready he is (physically and mentally, i.e. ready to compete). I would then fully trust coach Fisher’s decision. He knows the guy, he thinks highly of him in the locker room. Moss can catch, he may have lost a step but if we cannot get a #1 WR in FA because of the cost and Moss can come here for 2 or 3 million, I would totally do it. If Lloyd leaves, I would get Moss (if we are convinced he can contribute), draft OL and WR (or viceversa) with our first two picks.
Go Rams!
abiRam - February 17, 2012
If we got Moss for $3mil but
couldn’t sign Lloyd or another FA for $4-5mil I’d be pissed.
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
You are so right on our cap
We HAVE to cut Smith And Brown to be major players in Free Agency. Otherwise, the only thing we’ll be able to do is resign our players, and hope Lloyd likes what we offer him. :(
RAMSALLTHEWAY - February 17, 2012 via mobile
I read Brown only saves us $600,000 if cut.
Is it really worth it?
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
then lets trade his sorry ass for some picks
Or an average young player
RAMSALLTHEWAY - February 17, 2012 via mobile
Not a bad idea
I just wonder if we do trade him what we would get in return. I guess anything is better while not having his salary.
jmo53 - February 17, 2012 via Android app
im tired of all the locker room cancer talk.
4 pillars got us nowhere. Fact is our WR flat out blow, minus Lloyd who may or may not be back. Whats the worst that can happen, we go 0-16….big deal. We have nothing to lose at this point. Lots of teams take risks on players, sometimes thy work out and sometimes they dont, but at least your taking a risk to find out. I hope this new FO has some balls. Draft a young WR early to grow with Sam and sign a FA even if it means a cheap moss.

The thing about Moss is he plays AMAZING
when he’s motivated, so right know. I think he’s motivated to prove everyone wrong.
RAMSALLTHEWAY - February 17, 2012 via mobile
I wouldn't mind Moss...
But only if he came cheap and if we picked up another wide out like everyone else is stating…
Paparro8 - February 17, 2012
So whoever wants to talk great about Moss:
Moss 2010 + 2011: 16 games 28 Rec 393 yrds
Salas 2011: 6 games 27 Rec 264 yrds
Amendola 2010: 16 games 85 Rec 689 yards
Pretty much same amount of catches for just less yards between Moss and Salas, slot WRs have a smaller yards per reception than outside WRs. Danny puts him in his place.
You wanna compare our ousted guys?
DX 2011: 10 games 26 rec 431 yards
sergey606 - February 17, 2012
outside guys**
sergey606 - February 17, 2012
Conveniently left off DX's TD's.
Which are two. And what the stats don’t tell is that Randy Moss was virtually always double teamed. That makes things a lot easier on the running game, and means some receiver isn’t doubled. It’s one of those things we’ve been really missing, someone that has to be doubled so we can force mismatches elsewhere.
Scato - February 17, 2012
That someone can be found in FA or the draft.
