Random Ramsdom Feb. 15th: New Regime Almost Complete

Random_ramsdom_medium
Hey everybody! The new regime is almost complete at Rams Park. Yesterday the team officially introduced Les Snead as General Manager and the announcement of the hiring of Chuck Cecil as defensive backs coach was made earlier. There are only a few small roles left to fill and then all focus at Rams Park will be on the draft and free agency. Then we will move onto minicamps, training camp and before you know it, a brand new season. Let's get to those links!

TO or Moss?

The Post-Dispatch had a roundtable about the Rams potentially signing either Randy Moss or Terrell Owens. Let's just say none of them are huge fans of it.

Jeff Fisher back on the competition committee

Fisher has returned to the competition committee as a co-chairman. He had this to say.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be a part of the committee," Fisher said. "I've been on it since 2000. I was a non-voting member last year and participated to a certain extent with them. I was just thrilled that the commissioner and the rest of the committee welcomed me back."

Rams need to trade down

Clark Judge of CBSsports.com lays out his case for why the Rams should trade down in the draft.

Should the Rams go after Colston?

Yahoo sports lays out the case that the Rams should do so. He would definitely be an upgrade to the Rams offense.

That's all for today. Have a good one and GO RAMS!!

Sign Lloyd Sign Colston

trade down in the draft, Draft defense in 1st round

Tough Decision

I def agree to signing Lloyd and picking up Colston, yet for some reason even if we trade down I feel as if we should pick up a WR. Somebody who can be developed as a #1 reciever and grow and connect with Bradford for the future. Of course I like Blackmon yet if we trade down depending on whom we trade with we could also pick up ND WR Floyd who is most likely a 2nd rnd pick.

Now I am all for developing defense mainly cause I still believe even in todays football that defense wins championships. Either way the combine will answer all which I’m sure to change my mind at least 5-6 times before the draft.

I THINK THAT

the only way we trade our pick is with the browns AND only if we get something huge like whats being rumored, both their number ones and some of ther round 2’s. Becuase thats alot of power otherwise take blackmon to grow with Bradford and be our true #1 then get an OL because Im sick of picking line men with thefirst pick that dont live up to the hype. Also no matter what resighn Lloyd!

TO ADD TO THAT

my dream draft would be if we could some how get kalil and 2 and get floyd with our next pick. Like I said DREAM

Here's the deal

I’m not worried. I believe Fisher/Snead will do the right thing. I never had any faith in Zygmunt/Linehan or BD/Spags. Rookie head coaches give me heartburn. But now I believe we have credible leadership. I figure these guys and their associates will do the right thing for the Rams. It may take a year or two to build a contender. But, I believe they’ll start right off by separating the wheat from the chafe. They’ll keep and develop the players that have talent and a desire to win. That’s guys like Jackson, Long, JL, Harvey Dahl, Lloyd, etc. Likewise, they’ll dump the make believers like Bell, both Gibsons, both Jasons, Pettis, Poppinga, Norwood, Kehl, King, Bajema, Josh Brown, Feeley, etc. The old, tired and chronically/permanently injured guys like Robbins, Clayton, Bartell, Fletcher, Alexander, Hoom, Butler are all very likely goners too. It will be interesting to see if Sam Bradford becomes the QB for the next decade or busts wide open. I’d rate the odds on that one at about 60/40 that Bradford turns out ok. I’m also going to hazard a guess that Amendola comes back and makes Salas expendable. Kendricks will either be coached, developed and learn how to block and hang onto a pass, or he’ll be another bigtime wasted draft pick. Sadly, Kendricks, Pettis and Salas could all end up being bigtime flops.

Enough money should be saved by releasing or not resigning the likes of Jason Smith, Jacob Bell, Jason Brown, James Butler, Ron Bartell, etc. to buy a couple decent FA’s. And, I would expect to get much more value out of this year’s draft picks. We may even see 5th or 6th rounders capable of playing fb.

I agree 110%

could not of said it better myself. The only think is I would give Bradford a better chance than you did at least 75/25. I mean just think back to Fisher’s comments on him and how impressed he was with Sam. I also belive that Sam was a BIG reason we got Fisher.

+1

On both “randyvannram” & “JHair” statements. I myself think Bradford has a better chance not quite sure where my % stands. The ONLY difference is what I saw in JHair statement about Josh Brown being a make believer. Maybe due to the fact I really like Josh Brown and well lets face it he is one of our top scorer’s (if that’s even a word).

Read me if you want Randy Moss to play next year with the Rams.

According to Mike Freeman of CBSSportsline.com, the most compelling show on TV right now is not Survivor or the Bachelor or American Idol-it is the “freak show” of a single individual sitting in front of a camera and talking to his computer. It is the ongoing soap opera known as Randy Moss.

I personally have not viewed any of these video chats on the Internet but apparently they go way past anything athletes have put up on social media thus far. This is what Freeman says most has put up in the past 48 hours: " Writing a tell-all book; his poop (you read that correctly); his upcoming attempt to return to the NFL; spending Valentine’s Day with his kids; mocking past critics like Jerry Rice and Joe Buck; picking his nose on camera and wiping the excavated finding on his sleeve (you read that correctly, too); saying he no longer needs to be a No. 1 receiver; blasting the media; praising the media; and telling telling Cris Carter stories." He has also announced he is planning a comeback. He tweeted on Monday that he would be back in front of the camera Wednesday, just like a TV show.

Many football fans are watching including NFL executives. Freeman spoke with one NFL insider who has watched the Moss videos and says that Moss is “utterly obliterating” any chance of a comeback in the NFL. It is likely other teams who might have taken a flier on Moss are also watching and coming to the same conclusion-he hasn’t changed, he hasn’t grown-up, and he would be a cancer in their locker rooms.

His current antics are likely killing any chance for a comeback in the NFL but maybe he can get his own reality show on E! or Bravo.

Actually Brick Top I think the official start of the 2012 NFL season is on March 13 at 4:00 pm (ET).

Which includes the beginning of free-agent signing period, the beginning of the trade period and the deadline for submission of qualifying offers by teams to retain exclusive negotiating rights to their players who have fewer than three accrued seasons and whose contracts have expired.

And then comes the Combine, the NFL draft, mini-camps, training camps, etc., etc., etc.

Go Rams!

Maybe to you, but opening day is the beginning of the year to me
LOL ;-) ... me too!
