Free agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd's decision to hire Tom Condon as his agent may have complicated a reunion with Josh McDaniels in New England.
Brandon Lloyd's future is a little cloudy. The St. Louis Rams could sure stand to re-sign the free agent wide receiver. Lloyd's public comments about continuing to play for Josh McDaniels made it seem like a long shot for the Rams to keep him. However, a change in agents may have short circuited Lloyd's chances to reunite with McDaniels in New England.
Lloyd recently hired St. Louis-based super agent Tom Condon of CAA to represent him. The Patriots, according to the Boston Herald, do not deal much with Condon. In fact, the report says that the team has not signed a player represented exclusively by Condon since things got ugly over first-round pick Ben Watson in 2004.
The Herald report cites this 2009 quote from Condon:
We pretend there are 31 franchises in the NFL now and (the Patriots) pretend we don't exist, even though we represent 140 of the best players in the NFL. That's fine.
Of course, things can and often do change. McDaniels could convince he Patriots coworkers to make an exception in Lloyd's case.
The Rams, on the other hand, have dealt with Condon plenty. He represents Sam Bradford.
Lloyd left open the possibility that he would be interested in returning to the Rams under new head coach Jeff Fisher. Keeping Lloyd, 30, on the roster would bolster the receivers, giving Bradford a reliable down-field target. The Rams' interest in Lloyd could also depend on whether or not they pursue other free agent receivers. The Rams have been mentioned as a potential suitor for Vincent Jackson.

I would like Lloyd back
but I would rather have VJax, Colston or Stevie Johnson. Maybe we can get 2 of those four?

How about Colston with Lloyd?
Horcrux7 - February 14, 2012
That would be a real good combo!

Dwayne Bowe would be my first choice

I would love re signing Lloyd then drafting a receiver on day one and bringing in manningham or meachum. I think that would be awesome.

I've seen Bowe drop way too many balls.
Of course as bad as we are at WR he’d at least be an improvement. He’s certainly a different receiver than Lloyd in what he can do physically but I just think he’s the type of player that you’d regret signing in a year or two. For the right price I’d take him but for that price he’ll most likely stay in KC.

It's all about the $$$. If he's asking for Welker-Colston money, then I say we have to move on to another FA WR or hit the draft hard to find his replacement

Agree 100%
How much will he want, versus another FA WR? At what $$ amount does it just not make sense?
mcihaelT - February 14, 2012
I have no idea? Under $5 mil?

WR's
The biggest issue is and has been at WR. Last year was Hugh in FA, we screwed that up!! Here we go again….I don’t give a freak who we need to sign, it would be just stupid to go into next season with the same dam issue. Can any of these highly paid staff fix this sh!t
I wouldn’t care if they signed all of the top WR’s in FA, cap gone and all as long as it will fix this problem.

KEEP HIM
The Rams need to re-sign is ass no matter what, he was the only bright spot last year on this floating turd. Sign him and then bring in Wayne, draft a WR in the second and have Wayne mentor him. This would give us Lloyd, Wayne, Danny and Salas and who ever the hell they draft. And with someone like Wayne, even slippery fingers Kendricks can learn from Reggie.

Agreed

Does Lioyds' attitude make a difference whether we sign him or not ?
