The Brick Top led Redskins picked Robert Griffin yesterday and now it is the Broncos turn after swinging a colossal deal with the Vikings. There was some talk of the Broncos trying move down, but so far nothing has materialized. In light of that fact, the Broncos picked:

Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St.

Pick Grade:

C+

"While Tebow showed little in the way of a passing game in 2011, I have zero doubt that he will have to expand his game in 2012. New England's Bill Belichick showed Tebow can be "game planned" into being a non-entity. He'll need weapons to take that next step, and Justin Blackmon offers a unique skill set that could fit well into revised Broncos offense. His ability to catch passes in the 8 to 12 yard range, as well as YAC talent, will complicate opponents short coverage schemes.Blackmon will be a serious red zone threat too, something that the team currently doesn't have in their WR corp."

I'm also open to any team wanting to trade for Blackmon if the price is right.

I am stunned at this pick. Not only did the Broncos trade the farm to move up, they also picked someone that many don't believe should be in the top five.

Of course, the only way to evolve the Chosen One is to improve the weapons around him. Like it or not, they will eventually have to pass the ball, and adding a physical receiver like Blackmon could help this offense tremendously. I think towards the draft Blackmon's stock will rise, so to me it isn't a problem that he is picked this high.

Still, this pick represents and all-in move by the Broncos; since they gave up so much, Tim Tebow will be there to stay- like it or not. If the Broncos were this high originally, I'd love the pick. But I'm not sure Blackmon is worth betting the farm on.

Doug sure knows how to get things going! If you missed the action, or want to see what trades have been made so far, check out the full schedule.

C+?...C+??? Ok, maybe

I think Blackmon would have been a great choice for the Bengals to move to get. Simpson was indicted on the earlier this month, so he’ll either being going to jail, or at the very least be given a prolonged vacation by Goodell. Green and Blackmon would have made them serious players in the AFC North this season.
Blackmon in Denver would add to their offense. “The Tebow” has to either morph his game to include more passes, or he’s doomed to being a “one hit wonder”.

Doug

You have to realize what you gave up. I had to weigh that into the decision!

I think he’d be a good fit for the Broncos, and like I said, if they had the 3rd normally (without the monster trade), I’d have probably given you a really good grade.

But that’sa HUGE asking price.

You may very well be right, but I think there will be a team or two this NFL Draft that are going to shock us with huge trades
Eric who cares what most think , last year most thought Cam N. was not worthy of a #1 over all pick

until some one actually gets to play in the NFL no one knows what he is or is not worth its only opinions man

Vikings

When can I give the Vikings an F for passing on Matt Kalil??? Not a smart move. I don’t mind the Broncos pick depending on what they gave up.

Good God would anyone want to trade with the fuckin n*ners I'll give up our 1st and 2nd pick to the Rams for a 2013 7th rounder.
I'd be more than willing to trade the Broncos 7th round pick to the 49ers for their 1st and 2nd picks

…If you throw in Gore and Willis too

That's too much Doug

that isn’t worth a 7th.

Who do you think the 49ers should take in the first round?
a legit punt returner
I'm sorry when I said 'would anyone' I meant "would the Rams"

hehehe

If you're very, very quiet, off in the distance, you will hear an extremely deflated RG31 whimpering

Sorry, bro! Haha

Haha I actually think its a good pick

And its not like this is going to actually going to happen, Blackmon to Rams is still in my mind..

yeah boy i agree Blackmon for the Rams i want a star WR now were going on three years since Sam got drafted
I want one too

sadly, Blackmon’s not it

Agreed

I hope Fisher uses some common sense and gets him. If not just another high round draft pick being spent on the line when we could try in the FA..

There is no good OTs in free agency

conversely there are some very good WRs in FA. Better to pick Kalil and sign a FA WR like Colston or VJax

Good evening!

Veeeerry twicky, Doug! I thought you’d go Richardson…

It's the Bugs Bunny in me! lol
Wow....

An AJ and Blackmon pairing with a capable qb in Dalton with a pretty good D! The Bengals are a force to be reckoned with!!!

he's drafting for the Broncos
.......so Tim Tebow is throwing him the ball

can you say Pro Bowl? Because saying it is all he’ll be able to do, other than watch it from home

He's going to have to start throwing the ball more. NFL coaches are going to shut him down if he doesn't expnad his game
forget about Teblow Blackmon to the Rams
I tried to make a trade with ramfaindia, but he never got back to me. He has the Bengals
I saw

you even went to that dudes FanPost…..no response. He’s a tight-lipped owner, that Ramfaindia

I think he looks in once a week. He missed a great trade opportunity in my opinion
Just sent you an email, doug. sorry guys. Been busy chatting with my GF on FB, so couldnt check TST

A couple of days and shes already ruining my football life…… lol
By the way willing to make any trades.

I'm retarded...just saw that
haha......it's all good

I would never want the Rams to play any team that had Blackmon and Green as receivers, though!

good god...that would be terrible

that could be a 1-2 punch like Ike and Holt….dangerous combo there. But D. Thomas started coming into his own late last season. That would also be a pretty dangerous matchup

browns pick

My e-mail is ocruz1@slu.edu, and I hold the Browns pick. Please e-mail me with any and all trade proposals if you want the four spot

I sent you an offer...

you couldnt refuse lol

And BTW I have the steelers and would love to get into the top 15....

And trade partners fellas?

Justin Blackmon...

Tim Tebows newest 4th Qtr down feild blocker.

Way to go Doug! Well worth the pick, even if all of TST thought that picking Blackmon 6th was too high.

The Broncos fans wanted me to take Brockers or Kalil
I LOVE YOU DOUG !!!

Tebow needs some weapons!!!!!!!
ROTFLMAO

Now I just have to hope the guys at Mile High Report don't find out! lol
LOL. Here from MHR

I. Hate. This. Pick. Hahahahahah.

I have a $1.57 in unmarked bills as a bribe for you to NOT tell the other MHR guys? lol

I had this great plan… :-)

Lol! It's a deal? Don't worry, I had a crazy chain reaction trade involving the Broncos and Rams.

Not sure what you guys would think of it!

So I hear Tropical Storm Jswirb got a little bit stronger today

when reports of Desean Jackson potentially being franchised came out. One step away from a category 1 Hurricane. I’ll keep you posted as we near the FA period as to the status of a potentially devastating storm

Now that Moss is coming out of retirement, he's be here more often...Damn!
now that I didn't hear...

the coast of St Louis is in for some serious damage!

"...Surf City, here we come..."

yea......hold onto that spare tire

that oughta make everything alright!

I can hear him saying "Mommy!"
I can hear him saying

‘damnit, I forgot my glasses! But it sounds like some good surfing today’

He kinda looks like Sam Bradford

And the pass rush just blew through the offensive line, :)

Hahahahahaha

Er….That’s not very funny

I suppose this affords me the opportunity

to add Randy [via fanpost] to the list of Rams must-have FA’s with a tie to Jeff Fisher

I think it's destiny... Can't wait to read it
If its not approved by THE Douglas M

It’s not going onto TST! But JST (JSwirb Times) would probably pay for such an article

only with an link to...

To the Terrell Owens must-have FA page!

D-

Man I thought the Julio trade last year was bad, and it was, but this takes the cake. At least Julio Jones is a special talent, just not worth giving up a draft’s worth of picks for (no wide receiver is). Didn’t even take the BPA. Whelp, CLE gets Kalil @ #4, that’s pretty insane.

This isn’t the actual draft so I’m obviously not angry, but I’m pretty confused. Interesting to see what other surprises there are.

dude every draft has a huge surprise

tim tebow, julio jones, christian ponder, jake locker just to name a few off the top of my head

See I told ya this was dumb doug.

You got an F grade from TST.

So your saying it's "F"antastic? Cool!
Im trying to pull of a block buster trade here....

need some input from The Browns GM lol

My Thought Would Have Been Morris Claiborne.

Their secondary gave up a lot of big plays.

I just realized that all you guys have completely screwed ocruz1 and the Browns.

Well done. Cleveland’s top 3 has just gone out with the top 3. Claiborne would be a luxury to them after just taking Haden two years ago. Are they the team to reach for Richardson? They could have the greatest bookend OT duo in NFL history with Joe Thomas and Kalil. Those basically appear to be their options. Seems like historically accurate Browns situation.

I'm trying to trade with the guy....

But can’t get ahold of him!

Steelers!

I know who you’re going for (I think) and I approve.

Have to!

Seeing as they’re going back to old school steeler football!

And I also realized

That apparently my use of exclamation points is starting to get out of hand

Blackmon is over rated

… while I believe he would be a good redzone target he doesn’t have the ideal size you look for the value of a #2 overall pick.

speaking as if we were drafting him
Doug. If I'm the Broncos owner you'd be fired after making this move.

You dumped Lloyd to do this? Are you outta your mind?? Not saying Blackmon isn’t a great pick, but your series of moves just set back the franchise a couple of years. Giving away a very good ‘proven’ receiver only to later sell the farm to get another receiver thats unproven at the NFL level? Nothing says, “I don’t know what the heck I’m doing” than that move.
