The latest and greatest 2012 NFL Mock Draft is out over at the SB Nation flagship. This one reflects the further refined draft order which got a little more sorting after this weekend's Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs. Of course, the St. Louis Rams have been settled into the second spot since the closing minutes of the season. What will they do with that second overall pick?
Be sure to follow us on Twitter @TurfShowTimes for enough 2012 NFL Draft talk to make you puke up draft picks.

In this mock draft they grab Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon. There's already a debate about who is the top receiver in the draft, with Michael Floyd and Alshon Jeffery also getting some buzz. The Rams have lots of needs, and Matt Kalil might be a better pick here in terms of the draft spot and his talent level. I stand by my belief that the Rams need help at wide receiver.
Ideally, they'll be trading down. Looking at Cleveland's picks in the first round makes them a very attractive trade partner. The Rams could nab Blackmon, or another receiver of their choosing, with the fourth pick, and then fill another need with the 22nd pick, which Cleveland got from Atlanta in the Julio Jones deal.
There is the distinct possibility that Cleveland doesn't trade up in the draft. They don't exactly have a roster loaded with talent, and those picks could do wonders to move that franchise forward, finally. In that case, the other suitors would still give the Rams a similar haul, but probably not the two first rounders this year that the Browns have.
Washington's sixth pick or Miami's ninth pick would be fine spots to draft a wide receiver, and they might even be able to snatch Blackmon or whoever is considered the top guy.
It's going to be an interesting year for the Rams in the draft.

I was the guy in the NFL commercial
After the season is over I’m just sleeping until the draft starts, wake up with a big beard and start watching tv.
Can’t wait for the draft.
sergey606 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
then you would miss free agency.
crashoveride01 - January 9, 2012
yea
nothing like getting your hopes up for a player, only to watch him sign elsewhere
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
same with the draft right?
crashoveride01 - January 9, 2012
I'd be happy with Alshon
If it meant we had another first or 2nd because we traded the #2
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
Question
If Cleveland is interested in RG3, why would they trade up to get him. Doesn’t sound like Minnesota is interested
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
Skins, however
Wreak of desparation
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
That's the best part about the draft
Speculations and overbidding for players. Ricky Williams anyone?
sergey606 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Only because
they would be worried of some other team trading up to the 2 or 3 spot and nab him before he falls to them.
ramsguy6 - January 9, 2012
Because they need our pick to get him
RG3 will be picked second, it’s a question of who will trade for him
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
So we're definitely trading our #2 spot?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
likely
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
Most likely, but...
Some teams could only be worried about getting in front of the browns. That’d mean MIN. The Rams just need to do a good job of bolstering rumors that they have offers, so teams have to come to them.
hex706f726368 - January 9, 2012
Cleveland is interested if it’s not going to cost them anything extra. Mike Holmgren will not trade two #1 picks to move up two spots. Sorry to burst your bubble guys/gals, if you traded with Cleveland, Washington or anyone else in the top 10, you will at best get a 32 this year, and a solid #2 next year, if not a 2 & 4 next year. Your not gonna get the big haul Cleveland got last year, due to the fact Atlanta had to move up really far to get to Jones.
J. W. - January 15, 2012
How bout Blackmon and Alshon?
At 4 and 22? That would cement our WR core for 10 yrs +
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Or we trade the next 10 full drafts
For the entire first round this year. 32 top players
sergey606 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Haha that's being overly ambitious
I’d be happy with one of them.
Horcrux7 - January 9, 2012
no thanks
too many needs to attack one position.. ballsy move tho. so i would take reiff or martin and then floyd or jeffery
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
+1
David5264 - January 9, 2012
I am with you
Could you imagine, going from the worst WR core to a pretty darn good one. Blackmon, Jeffery, Amendola, Salas and Pettis. I would love to see that! I still think our offensive line will be ok. With a new O line coach and Fisher riding them hard, they can get their acts together.
MyACLisBrittle - January 9, 2012
It seems like the Browns will trade up with us and give us their #22 pick
out of desperation just so they can draft RG3 before the Redskins get a chance to.
Horcrux7 - January 9, 2012
4 and 22 would be solid
Kalil would be gone, so we still get Blackmon, and at 22 we get___________?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
devon still
but i want martin and floyd or jeffery at 22
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
I'm guessing that TD catch Alshon had in the bowl game
Moved him inside the top 20, no?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
reiff ... martin.... possible?
ramat - January 9, 2012
unlikely
u would have to take them high
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
eh who knows maybe we can get lucky and one of them falls....
or can trade some of our new picks to trade up and get one
ramat - January 9, 2012
im gonna be preaching this til april
martin and floyd is way better than blackmon and whoever we take there lol . blackmon had better numbers but floyd is the better receiver IMHO
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
ND sucks
That is all
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
agreed
and floyd still balls out with tht bum tommy reese
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
so ur sayin ud rather have floyd and martin than blackmon and martin?
for the same price of course (bein hypothetical)
ramat - January 9, 2012
if i can have martin either way
then i will take blackmon, but i think they will have similar careers so i would rather spend a later pick for the same production.
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
ya that makes sense im with u on the floyd boat then lol
ramat - January 9, 2012
lol yea expecially
sense alot of ppl dnt have martin or reiff falling past the top 10. so we can get a great LT and a good wide receiver.. or get a good wide receiver and no LT .. im taking the tackle and the reciever
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
ya im definately sayin ot and wr first and second
ramat - January 9, 2012
I'm no college expert
tell me about this Martin fella
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
almost as good as kalil
ramat - January 9, 2012
LT?
from?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
stanford
ramat - January 9, 2012
stanford
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
lol first
ramat - January 9, 2012
lmao
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
yea and reiff MIGHT
be better than both
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
really? well as long as we get
reiff/martin/kalil AND
blackmon/jeffrey/floyd
ramat - January 9, 2012
then we're DESTINED
to win at least 4 games
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
lol ram fan mentality
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
I think if we're healthy next year
we’re not embarassing ourselves in our division. I was of the mindset we’d win 9 last year…….no way that could happen with all of our injuries
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
only issue is
all 3 and blackmon will be gone by our second pick. so if we take blackmon, we lose out on the other three
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
ya i know haha just sayin as long as we get one of each
ramat - January 9, 2012
yea all signs point to us trading down with cleveland
which of course means that nobody will trade with us including them and we get stuck with kalil in one hand and our dicks in the other lol
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
haha... u mean if we cant trade down rite?
ramat - January 9, 2012
yea lol
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
Kalil isn’t a bad BPA to get. Sorry that you picked a crappy tackle a few years back.
J. W. - January 15, 2012
Remember the last time
We took the ‘second’ best LT
Cyber Jesus - January 9, 2012
Anyone thinking that Cleveland gives up not only one #1 pick but two of them to move up 2 spots is smoking the best kind of crack, and should share. You people dream big, I’ve gotta give you that! No, you can try to arrange a deal with Wahsington, but you’ll find that they aren’t gonna give up the farm to move up 4 spots, so go ahead and dream large..
J. W. - January 15, 2012
too bad that
theres no way we could get blackmon and kalil and floyd/jeffrey lolz
ramat - January 9, 2012
you know wat....
who said cleveland doesnt want mccoy to be there guy? we mite be jumping the gun a bit
ramat - January 9, 2012
Brady Quinn 2.0
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
lol na i dont think hes that bad... but hes kinda in the same predicament as bradford with the talent around him
ramat - January 9, 2012
holmgren said that he cant committ to mccoy being the man
yet
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
oh ok good stuff... that makes me feel better lol
ramat - January 9, 2012
Brady Quinn 2.0 wasnt good enough?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
lol the problem was hes too good... nobody can even bare to watch...
thats why he sits… ppls eyes would melt
ramat - January 9, 2012
lemme make u feel a lil more better
clevelands coach is in love with RG3..
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
Let me bring you back down out of the crack smoke cloud! Cleveland has two really smart people running the team now, and they don’t throw away draft picks in the same retarded fashion as the old browns front offices did. These guys will be trading out of the #4 spot, getting draft picks from Washingon for RGIII – You can count on it. And Cleveland will get Blackmon wih the #4 if he’s gone we go after Sanu or DE.
J. W. - January 15, 2012
haha foreal... hell ya
btw u got a link i could check out?

np dude.. and here is holmgren

Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
cool hold on lemme read it lol
ramat - January 9, 2012
me likey haha.... well that would be (imo) the best possible scenario for us to trade with them
for a plethara of picks and still get our oline fixed and our playmaker
ramat - January 9, 2012
Nope, not gonna happen.
J. W. - January 15, 2012
If we do get one of these LT's in the draft
is Smith gone, and Saffold back at RT?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
if any of you like me, the answer to that will be 'yes'
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
lol i honestly would keep him til we found better and shit i forgot about brown
switch smith with brown… but i wouldnt mind restructurin smith and make him a b/u
ramat - January 9, 2012
smith will probly be rg... and saffold rt and wragge c and dahl lg
ramat - January 9, 2012
brown gone?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
or u move smith to LG and he take a massive paycut
which is better. he is a great run blocker and we get SOMETHING out of him. and if we cut him it will cost us about 13 million dollars total
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
have we tried him at guard at all?
I’ve heard it talked about, but has he actually played that position any?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
wasn't he a TE at one time...
hex706f726368 - January 9, 2012
I'm sure this must have been discussed somewhere on here...

heid - January 9, 2012
That article was awesome!
David5264 - January 9, 2012
Only problem
With that article is that they dont mention players players like kenny brit and titus young who helped there teams…not to mention clavin and andre johnson and larry fitzgerald who were draft by not so good teams…plus those players do more than the numbers show
Valley Ram - January 9, 2012
But the point is...
No matter how good those big name receivers are (Megatron in the game at the weekend, Fitz in the SB vs Pittsburgh) they still don’t make enough of a difference to change a loss into a win.
Why draft a WR with the #2 pick, when you can take Kalil or trade the pick, then draft another WR in the 2nd or 3rd round?
heid - January 10, 2012
Don't jump the gun on the Browns being willing to trade. In the article where
they weren’t willing to anoint McCoy, this was said about the draft:
Use the picks: Heckert indicated he’d like to use all nine picks this season, including the first- and fourth-round selections acquired in the trade with Atlanta. The Browns have three picks in the top 37.
“That’s one of the reason we made the trade — to get more players,” said Heckert. “You never say never, but we like our picks right now. We have nine right now and hopefully we’ll get some compensatory picks. We’d like to add nine good football players.”
David5264 - January 9, 2012
Not sure on this
Thomas had a great freakin game yesterday.
81 Witness - January 9, 2012
Personally I think the Browns
are the ideal trade partner at #4 as I see them going after RG3. In addition, although I have stated a preference of selecting Blackmon at #4 I don’t believe JF (if hired) will go in that direction. I think with his emphasis on power running and defense that he will go in a different direction.
How about pondering this scenario? Trading our pick to the Browns for their #4, #22 and 2nd rounder only to turn around and trade our #4 down again for a team mesmerized by Blackmon. In that scenario I could see JF going after Trent Richardson and an OT or even DeCastro at OG and addressing his defense and possibly WR in the 2nd and 3rd rounds with our bounty of picks.
RamTeaPartier - January 9, 2012
Cleveland is unlikely
Dan Snyder has no cash, and is desperate. He will trade two years of 1st and 3rds to move up to grab Griffin.
I like Reiff or Martin. An OLB like Brown (if he’s there) and a DT (not Poe) would work this year.
81 Witness - January 9, 2012
Actually, Dan has simmered down
Shanahan, both young and old, are the desperate ones. If they make that move, it’s a last ditch effort, because his first 2 seasons have been a complete failure
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
I think the 'skins are the most likely to make an overpriced trade.
Their roster has enough “name” players on it to convince them that all that is missing is a franchise QB. They may even try to work a deal with New England to get an additional 1st round pick to offer.
David5264 - January 9, 2012
You're right
every season the Skins make some form of terrible decision (Haynesworth, McNabb, Rex/Beck), and again, both Snyder and Shanahan are desperate. The ‘experimentation’ that they’re doing at QB has been a bust, and it’s crunch time. There is NO WAY that they go into next season with either of those guys as starters, though I do think Rex will be back. There desperation will be further fueled by the fact that they were only 3 games shy of winning that division (which doesnt say much, as they only won 5 games)
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
You are right that the Skins
are in a big need of a splash but I see no way that the Brown go into 2012 with McCoy at QB. The offense in Cleveland is BORING. In addition, the Browns have the assets (compliments of the Falcons) to make any trade they desire. However, if I were Cleveland I would hold onto their picks and take Blackmon. They would be set at WR for the next 10 years. I think this draft may hold some very interesting value picks at QB later in the draft.
RamTeaPartier - January 9, 2012
I'm over at Dawgs by Nature right now
trying to get some insight from those guys on whether they think they’ll trade up for us or not. The only thing I can gather, at this point, is that they have ZERO desire to draft Trent Richardson, who I guess they’re mocked to take.
None of the responses that I’ve gotten have had anything to do with excitement surrounding RG3, though
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
Thats because we would only consider him if he’s at #4 and we feel that he’d be where we are going. Cleveland doenst need another QB in the first round, we have a starting QB in McCoy who had a bad year as did Bradford due to all of the players around him either hurt or not talented enough to compete. We will use ALL of our draft picks. So start looking somewhere else if you think we will trade for RGIII
J. W. - January 15, 2012
so a free agent WR looks like a must not huh
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
now or not?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
if you meant 'now,' then I agree
especially if we do lose Lloyd. I think even if we were to draft Blackmon/Jeffery or the like, we’d be kidding ourselves to think that the receiver position is ‘solidified’
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
now sorry lol
how bout stevie johnson or pierre garcon
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
Yes, please!
I’d rather have one (or both, haha) of the Jacksons, but they won’t come cheap. Either of the aforementioned are a huge upgrade. Garcon has had a weird career, and I realize Manning being out hasn’t helped, but I feel as though he’s been expected to be elite. I havent seen that. What I have seen, though, is that guy catch the ball, and run like Usain Bolt
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
big fan of garcon too
in what ppl dont know is that garcon faces number one corners alot because wayne only plays the left side of the field. him or johnson would be cheap and becasue of age, better than lloyd IMO
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
We've gotta get a damn receiver, though
If the Pats and Pack have shown us anything, since we’re on that level, it’s that your defense can suck if your offense can score 42 points a game. Now, I’m not interviewing for the GM or HC job, but after that little nugget I just dropped, I probably should be
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
agreed
garcon is my favorite cost effect wise
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
agree
I say we go all offence while picking up 2 dt and 2 olb somewhere bpa. The extra picks from a trade down would help. And get Vincent Jackson or another top receiver through free agency.
jmo53 - January 10, 2012 via Android app
Bottom Line IMO
We need Blackmon unless some stud WR pops up out of the combine. Regardless we cannot get passed the point of not getting a WR this draft.
BurnoutJoeB. - January 9, 2012
agreed
with lloyd leaving and dx (the only other servicable 1/2 on our team) always being hurt, we cant give up on blackmon unless we can trade down for both of clevelands picks. im still taking blackmon over kalil at 2 tho
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
Does anyone NOT think SJAX is a Ram in 2012?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
the way fisher likes to run the ball
he is a ram for sure
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
would you be willing to trade him in a package deal that included a big name FA WR?
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
nah
then we would have no running back
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
You serious?
Jerious Norwood…….duh!
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
o dam!
how could i forget! problem solved
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
If we land Fisher then
S-Jax is going nowhere. Probably going nowhere whoever we land. S-Jax is JF’s kind of football player!
RamTeaPartier - January 9, 2012
And I do agree that
we should find a way to trade down (to obtain extra picks) and still keep a high enough 1rst rounder to get Blackmon!
RamTeaPartier - January 9, 2012
yea i was on the whole build an oline tip
but if samis gonna lose lloyd, we need a receiver
Ram_Redemption - January 9, 2012
Exactly
I’m TOTALLY for a good oline believe me but I truly think we have the foundation for a solid offensive line. The biggest issue at least IMO is the coaching/strength training/technique plus other things which I’m sure I am missing.
BurnoutJoeB. - January 9, 2012
Blackmon
Lloyd is leaving and dx is always hurt, that leaves us with:
Pettis: two at best
Clayton: injury prone
Salas: slot
Amendola: slot
I’m not an expert but were screwed if we don’t get a one. I don’t trust FA and Blackmon has a chance to be unique, our line is better off than our wr corps, get blackmon!
RG31 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
DX and Clayton can look for a new team
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
My thoughts exactly
And Gibson can fuckin leave as well.
RG31 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Then get Garcon or Steve Johnson
We need help with this corps and neglecting it isn’t happening..
RG31 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Wonder
if Matty Ice would agree with the idea a mortgaging a draft for a WR vs addressing a plethera of needs was worth it. I don’t mind the idea of Johnson / Garcon but you can’t go WR crazy. Assuming the WC is the direction we are heading then a guy like Johnson at 1 along with Pettis, Salas, and DA would be just fine. Let’s not forget we were 2-14 so the needs are a plenty. No matter who we draft it will help. There are really only 2 positions I will be pissed if we draft within the 1st 4-5 rounds and that is DE and MLB. I am on the fence as far as safety only because there is 0 depth.
RWRAMS28 - January 9, 2012
are you referring to Matt Stafford as 'Matty Ice'?
and are you also suggesting that we keep Danario Alexander?
….both would be wrong
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
nevermind
I see where you’re headed with that
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
DA=Danny Amendola
RWRAMS28 - January 9, 2012
thank goodness!
again, my bad
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
am i the only one thinking of a trade with miami?
they have publicly stated there disappointment with chad henne so i really believe they would give a real good offer for our pick. since they only have 1 first rounder and cleveland has 2 and a higher draft choice i think they could throw in a first rounder next year along with brandon marshall. its not as far fetched as you might think. atlantas trade last year shows teams what it takes now to trade up really high.
theirishsmurf - January 9, 2012
That would be good
But at 9 million a year for the next 3 years we would have to pay marshall i dont see the FO doing that with out him renegotiating his contract. If fisher comes in, more than likey a west coast style offence is back and amendola ( hopefully is is back) will be good enough to make a cheeper option look better at the #1 WR spot. Garcon would be a perfect fit.
Valley Ram - January 9, 2012
if lloyd leaves it would free up enough cap room
my point is just that nobody is talking about miami as a trade option but to be honest i would rather trade 1 first rounder and brandon marshall then 2 first rounders even if marshalls contract would be a little steep itd be worth it hes a beast on a bad team. hed be a far safer bet then blackmon and im the biggest blackmon fan ull ever meet.
theirishsmurf - January 9, 2012
