Jeff Fisher came to St. Louis on Sunday and left after spending about four hours visiting with the St. Louis Rams. He even took some time to visit with Sam Bradford. The only question left to answer is whether or not he'll return to St. Louis on a more permanent basis. Or will he choose Miami?
Fisher's visit reportedly went very well. He liked what the Rams have to offer according to a report in the Post-Dispatch. That includes the nucleus of players here, an owner willing to build a winner, the team structure and the chance to hire whatever assistants he wants at whatever costs. He's said to want to reunite with Gregg Williams, the current New Orleans DC, and Dave McGinnis, the current linebackers coach in Tennessee.
The one hang up is a question about the team's future beyond 2014, when the lease on the Ed Jones Domes reaches an out clause that could allow the team to flee. Fisher reportedly does not want to go through the disruption of a move again like he did when the Oilers left Houston for Tennessee.
A decision is not expected from Fisher until Tuesday or Wednesday.
Another thing worth noting is that Miami has already started to look at other coaching candidates. The Rams interviewed Cardinals DC Ray Horton, and that's it.

I do like how they're giving him the full court press, in terms of attention.
If he does decide on Miami that will speak volumes about the team’s intentions in the future, since that appears to be the only hang up.
If he does wind up choosing Miami, the list of candidates should exponentially grow. I’m glad Horton interviewed great, but I’d love to see Chudzinski be brought in as well.

Hope he's not waitin'
to see if the Falcons gig is an option. Rams luck and all.
johnniewarthawg - January 9, 2012
He's made it pretty clear
that it’s between STL and MIA. Ramsluck should not factor in.*
FailureDrill - January 9, 2012 via Android app
If it wasn't for bad luck
We’d have no luck at all.
johnniewarthawg - January 9, 2012
If He Says
no it looks like Sherman will not be available. Reports have him linked to Tampa with Childress being the OC which was kind of what I hoped we would have done. Tehn you could have hired Todd Bowles or a jack Del Rio as DC and been on our way. If Fisher goes to Miami we will end up with another OC / DC learning how to be a HC. I know guys want to take their time and all but I don’t know that he is all that to be holding us hostage. At least Miami has been pounding the pavement with other posibilities. All we did was interview to satisfy the Rooney rule because anyone who thinks Horton is a serious possibility is crazy.
RWRAMS28 - January 9, 2012
Cards fans apparently love him.
Personally I’m fine with Sherman going elsewhere. They (the FO) want Fisher so they give him their full attention. He’d be right to question their seriousness if they went after Sherman at the same time.
Past those two, coordinators is all you’ve got.

I agree with the "OC /DC Learning how to be a coach"
I’m ready for an experienced guy
VTramsFan - January 9, 2012
It doesn't really matter as long as their good
Tomlin has been a HC for like 4 years and IMO is the best in the league
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
What
makes them good? I mean McD was a great mind in NE and considered a great prospect yet didn’t fair so well in Denver. It’s a roll of the dice. Tomlin didn’t exactly inherit a 2-14 team either. I agree he is a good HC. I would have him 4-5 in rankings but top 5 for sure. I am jsut saying it is a bit easier to learn on the job when you start with a good team. To me you can have damn near any OC / DC learn as a HC providing you have talent so your GM / Scouts are more important than anything. Not many guys can learn on the job with a 2-14 team.
RWRAMS28 - January 9, 2012
I honestly like coaches who dont run their mouth
This is why belichick and tomlin are my top 2, they don’t run their mouths to then media, they just get it done.
RG31 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
I like some of what Rex Ryan does from a gameplan and adjustment side
But he is alienating the offense and trying to make people believe that Sanchez is a top 5 qb
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
I think it has more to do with there overall mindset than even their coordinating smarts
I look at a Gregg Willams, I think he would make a really good head coach cause of how he carries himself and how he adjusts his gameplans. Spags and McD just know offense and defense, but don’t seem to understand the nuances of being a HC
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
I follow
ya but still it wold be nice to have somone with a proven track record come in and try to turn around this squad. If it is a first timer as a HC I would hope they surround themselves will veteran coordinators to ease the growing pains. I just don’t see Ray Horton being the guy we need to right this sunken ship.
RWRAMS28 - January 9, 2012
Oh I agree we need a guy like a Fisher with the experience
But I’m pointing out what you should look for in your C’s who you hire. Personally, Gregg Williams is the only one I’d seriously hire here, cause he’s been around long enough that he would have some of that veteran coach stuff we are talking about. I really want Fisher and Williams
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Agreed
I put McCarthy right up there as well. I also give Marivn Lewis some love because he has had to put up with a cheap owner and still gets alot out of his teams.
RWRAMS28 - January 9, 2012
Yeah
And Marvin handled Ocho better than a lot would have
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Not
to mention him and TO on the same team. Any coach that can handle that circus and not let it get out of control deserves some dap.
RWRAMS28 - January 9, 2012
They were awful last year though
If I were him I’d go to another franchise
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
KSR
get him on the line and conference me in and we will get him here. LOL
RWRAMS28 - January 9, 2012
No, not here
If I’m Marvin Lewis, I would leave if the Bengals regress next year. I’d go to the Eagles if I were him. Although, Idk now if I would ever want to stop coaching Dalton and Green when they are only 23. If they were to draft Richardson or Kirkpatrick, I’d be terrified of the Bengals more than anyone else
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Ol boy, Adam Schefter
seems to think that Fisher is leaning towards Miami now
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
Doubt it's right
Even though I hold Schefty as the standard for NFL insiders, he is payed by ESPiN, meaning he is payed to talk about big markets
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
He didnt even really have a reason
….it was just kinda ‘he likes it in Miami’
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
Pretty ladies always in bikinis, no state tax, and as long as Lebron is there you can never be the most despised person living in your city?
Yeah, I like it there to
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Well no shit?
He likes it in Miami? Thanks, Schefty. Its almost like a vacation spot, eh?
FailureDrill - January 9, 2012 via Android app
where did he say that?
Ryan Van Bibber - January 9, 2012
schefter that is
Ryan Van Bibber - January 9, 2012
just woke up, and turned on sportscenter
he said ‘sorry to ride the fence on this one,’ mentioned that many people think he could go to SL, but that he thinks he likes Miami…….with no real reasoning
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
I might be insane, but that really feels like they payed him to say that so they can talk Miami
Cause from previous experience, Schefter is usually better at confirming his sources than a lot of these idiots
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Ahh.
Sounds like a personal opinion, not a report.
I’m assuming Mike & Mike, since Cowherd starts his show right about now.
FailureDrill - January 9, 2012 via Android app
My guess is either Mike & Mike or The Herd
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
let me see if I can rewind it
i’ll quote him
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
schefter
when asked about meeting with sam bradford and still being in the running, he said ‘the sense that I’m getting around the league, is that Miami has the slight advantage…..he feels a certain tie and connection to the Dolphins’
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
wow
Ryan Van Bibber - January 9, 2012
don't know how much stock I'll put it in
but I don’t like bad news, so unfortunately, I want to know who’s providing that ‘sense’
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
Even though, as I've said, I put Schefter as the only guy I will believe on his own for breaking a story with ESPN
The fact that Mortensen, Clayton, and La Canfora all hold the exact opposite opinion, I just don’t buy it.
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
I hope you're all right!
I’d consider him going to Miami our first loss of the offseason
DCRamFan - January 9, 2012
Actually our first loss
of the offseason looks as though it might be Brandon Lloyd. Seems like Ocho Cinco out and Lloyd in would be a huge upgrade in Foxboro.
I did mention when these early rumors started with Fisher that the prospective L.A. thing was my biggest fear on him signing with the Rams. I think supporters in this forum underestimate Kroenke’s big ties with AEG. However, despite those ties I sure feel like Miami is acting like they are moving on from JF with all their recent recruiting activities. With the Rams focused on JF and Miami recently reaching out for many other coaching candidates it sure looks like it’s heading in our direction.
KSR – Is Lebron really hated in Miami or simply hated everywhere “outside” of Miami?
RamTeaPartier - January 9, 2012
He's hated everywhere else
But still, with all the media and internet, he might as well be despised in Miami as well
King Sam Rules! - January 9, 2012 via mobile
I don't like the whole decision thing
It sounds like if he is going to make it a big publicity stunt to punish a small market team. Sound familiar?
81 Witness - January 9, 2012
when someone proclaimes themselves...
“THE KING” and THE CHOSEN ONE"? and tattoo’s them on his body? he was destined…to FAIL! fuck lebron!! or lequit I should say. he’s one arrogant motherF’er!!
