The St. Louis Rams have expressed interest in Todd Bowles, the Dolphins interim head coach.
The St. Louis Rams have expressed interest in Todd Bowles, according to Jim Thomas of the Post-Dispatch. Bowles is currently serving as the interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins. He joins Jeff Fisher as the only other candidate the Rams are known to have interest in at this point in the process.
Bowles, an African American, would satisfy the league's Rooney Rule, which says that teams must interview minority candidates for such vacancies. Interviewing Bowles would put the Rams in compliance with that policy.
Rooney Rule or not, Bowles has a solid resume. He comes from the Bill Parcells coaching tree, working as the Dallas Cowboys' secondary coach from 2005-2007, before joining Parcells to Miami in 2008. Bowles took over when the Dolphins fired Tony Sparano.
Bowles will interview for the Dolphins job, and this isn't his first time through the process. In 2009, he interviewed with the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. He reportedly came close to getting the job in Detroit. And the Big Tuna himself has deemed him a future NFL head coach. The Dolphins were 2-1 under Bowles; their only loss was a three-point loss to the Patriots in Week 16.
The talking heads around the league are still pretty convinced that Jeff Fisher is the guy in St. Louis, but time will tell.

So Rooney Rule or not this guy is legit?
Interesting. I wonder if he will wow in the interviewing process and the Rams’ brass will going away from the reports saying they want a HC with previous experience

Sounds like he comes from good stock...
So he has definitely earned, at least, an interview. In the three games he coached, he won just as many games as Spags won all year and he only lost to the Patriots by 3 points. Already, he sounds like an upgrade…

AND
He did this with the Miami Dolphins in a short period of time although Miami does have some stock but still.

We fired all the higher ups and somehow the Rams will still mess this up
Get Polian and Fisher in here. End of story. Instead we haven’t even scheduled an interview with anyone. Lets just lolly gag around and go into next season without a HC or GM.

Do not fall back on taking a coach without head coaching experience
Please friends, do not fall back on taking a coach without head coaching experience.
Why is this Mr. Todd Bowlen from Parcells and was an interim one game in Miami, I do not mean anything, think that the volume and all organized team, only had to make changes. Win 2 of 3, it is nothing to see if it’s good. Think back three years when you were talking about Spagnuolo.
In St. Louis has to be a head coach with a lot of experience if we stop being one of the worst teams in the NFL in recent years.

With a young group of guys like the ones we have
We cannot afford an inexperienced coach..fisher or bust as good as this guy sounds .by the way..roony rule is awesome

Anyone know
Anyone know why Brian Billick’s name has not popped up yet. Seems like it could be quiet for a reason
Marmie is the best - January 4, 2012
cause everyone knows billick sucks
im from baltimore and we all (even ravens fans) agree that he just adopted a well built team from the coach before him
Ram_Redemption - January 4, 2012
we need an OC
rams had 9 passing TD, and laurent robinson had 11, and he didn’t start til October… with NO preseason practices…

i think mcdaniles is great
but spags and a shortened off season hurt him. if the new coach lets him run the offense the way it should be, and motivates these guys, we should be ok
Ram_Redemption - January 4, 2012
I agree Spags was wanting to control the way the offense was run he wanted to keep part of last years system in this years offense
McD should have full run of the offense with out any interfering ,then only if he cant get this team scoring replace him,but let him run the show his way im sure he will get Sam to be on top of his game again

JW Coop - January 4, 2012
i see ZERO chance
that anyone with the name Blackmon goes lower than 6
DCRamFan - January 4, 2012
I'm not African American
But if I was, I think I would feel that the Rooney Rule does more to make me feel like a minority who needs special treatment than I would if the rule didn’t exist. I think “racism” can work two ways….one can be passed on for an interview because of his color or he can be given an interview because of his color. Pretty soon there’s going to have to be Don Ho and Cesar Chavez rules to help satisfy quotas for Islanders and Hispanics. Does the U.S. Ping Pong team have a Long Duc Dong rule?
Ferragamo - January 4, 2012
AMEN DUDE. AGREE 100%
randyvannram - January 4, 2012
hahahaha you are mad funny that was hilarious lol
Rammon105 - January 4, 2012
It’s ridiculous that you HAVE to interview a minority, especially since its the same 5 guys who get interviewed.
King Sam Rules! - January 4, 2012 via mobile
we can interview R.Morris and then just tell him sorry you suck hahaha
Rammon105 - January 4, 2012
Rooney rule stinks.
the reason being if you bring in one minority for an interview and you might consider to hire another coach and your bring in this guy because you have to, that sucks. so your going to interview for the rams job. no just showing up so they can say they had interest in me.
crazy mike - January 4, 2012
I read this post twice and I still don't understand what you're trying to say lol.
addnon - January 4, 2012
It really is intriguing.
The Dolphins really did have a nice end to the season and his resume isn’t disappointing.
I really want Fisher. However, it doesn’t hurt to look at alternatives if Miami hooks him right away. Beyond Fisher, the list of experienced head coaches is pretty depressing.
FailureDrill - January 4, 2012 via Android app
Theren would HAVE to be alot of
it ands or buts. I really would like to her from him. Screw the Rooney rule it is outdated. I want a winner and do not care if he is pink with mauve highlights.
Da Rookie - January 4, 2012
Well of course you wouldn't
Anyone who picks mauve as their go to highlight wouldn’t have any with someone who has them
King Sam Rules! - January 4, 2012 via mobile
Stan stop f...ng around and bye Jeff Fisher lol
