New Orleans is a wonderful city. It's great for, let's say, culture. It's great for culinary exploration. It's also great for football. There's a reason the Superdome hosts every big football game it can every so often - the stadium and the city craft the perfect environment for a fantical love of everything football. It's the kind of environment where a person can walk around wearing argyle-patterned pants with a drink in one hand, the other stuffed in a pocket with a dead wolverine on one's head while the sun is still up, and not a single person will notice.
On the field, there's good talent to scout. Michigan's best prospects are along the lines both defensive and offensive. While C David Molk is, IMO, the best the Wolverines have to offer, DT Mike Martin, DL Ryan Van Bergen, DE Craig Roh and OT Taylor Lewan will all factor in on day 3. It's pretty obvious to see why Michigan boasts one of the best running games and defenses in the country.
The Hokies match the Wolverines in production, but where Michigan plays a power game with an athletic QB, Virginia Tech sacrifices power for athleticism across the depth chart. Their star RB, David Wilson, could well be a late 1st round pick if his offseason goes well. Jayron Hosley is one of the best corners in the nation from a conference that is quickly becoming a pipeline for teams looking to improve their secondary. Jarrett Boykin is versatile enough that he could find himself a starter at WR in the NFL when the 2012 season rolls around.
I'll have the open thread up later.
Rams player of interest: RB David Wilson, Va. Tech (Jr.)
Final score: Michigan 17, Virginia Tech 16

This will be almost as painful as watching the rams...
Next season that is… We play the nfc north and afc east. If we dont get someone to help put up points (blackmon) we are in trouble.
Rando - January 3, 2012 via mobile
that's why i put
Wilson as the player to watch over Molk

What round you got Hosley? Two?
King Sam Rules! - January 3, 2012 via mobile
I havent watched hosley
but I would like a cb, olb, or dt in the second (unless a Starting caliber OT falls to us) im hoping we trade back and get blackmon and an OT in the first

Kffin picked
Florida, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, and South Carolina all to win yesterday. He picked V-Tech today, so I’m gonna have to go with that heh. On a serious note, that’s fuckin’ impressive to go 100% yesterday.

Jason La Canfora:
figures Fisher to be hired in St Louis by Sun/Mon. thats purely his guess, but i assume its based on sources
King Sam Rules! - January 3, 2012
David Molk
Is the best Center in the country

After watching blackmon last night, are there still lingering questions that you have about him?
RG31 - January 3, 2012 via mobile
it's not that there are questions
but he has limitations. It’s not an insult. If I say Brandon Lloyd has limitations, it doesn’t mean that he can’t be successful. I just see more limitations in his game compared to other WRs who come out that get hype put on them.

so...
are you a fan of drafting kalil? i feel like either choice is one that could be argued as “best” for the team. if kalil turns out to be franchise OT, then you cant complain, and if blackmon ends up being a larry fitz, andre johnson, roddy white, type of wr, then you really cant complain. but if we want kalil we CAN’T trade down… that being said, i’m not sold on the browns wanting to trade up for RG3, if they do i would say go for it and pick whoever Minnesota doesn’t grab, because honestly they may look at blackmon as a young go to guy for ponder to develop with IF they plan on keeping him or bringing in a young QB. what’s your thoughts?
Rando - January 3, 2012
I personally think that kalil has the higher ceiling at his position
If blackmon becomes a roddy white for us then cool… But unless he puts up 1400 yards and 10 td’s, he is a waste. Because other wide recievers that went top five, were considered busts if they dnt live up to the calvin andre or larry standards. U can get a 1000 yard 8 td reciever anywhere (which is what I see blackmon), so why skip on elite talent for just good? Most mock drafts have kalil and jonathan martin above him. I want one of them even if we trade back
Ram_Redemption - January 3, 2012 via mobile
That's what I've been saying.
Never thought he’d be bad, but with the #2 pick, I won’t Megatron good or nothing.

*want
GRAMMAR NAZI!
RAMpage28 - January 3, 2012
Oops.
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
Wat is this grammar nazi stuff lol
Ram_Redemption - January 3, 2012 via mobile
I don't know.
I’m just being a grammar nazi.
RAMpage28 - January 3, 2012
Ppl keep saying that to me
And I laugh it off awkwardly cause I dunno what it means
Ram_Redemption - January 3, 2012 via mobile
Grammar Nazi's are people who constantly point out errors in people's grammar
despite it being pointless. They most do it because they are dicks.
RAMpage28 - January 3, 2012
I do it TO people who are dicks lol.
It’s even funnier when someone attempts to do it but they get something wrong as well.
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
I love that.
RAMpage28 - January 3, 2012
You see this often.
“(Fixes spelling). Your an idiot).
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
With an end quotation.
And minus the closed parenthesis. Face palm.
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
LOL
RAMpage28 - January 3, 2012
FUCK!
RAMpage28 - January 3, 2012
LOL!
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
You brightened my day
Er..night
Ram_Redemption - January 3, 2012 via mobile
Lolol
just someone who corrects other people.
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
since i spent the first half of the season deployed
i’m not as up to date on all the college players like a normally am, but are there any sophomore receivers that we could possible get next year if we take kalil? i know that sammy watkins (clemson) looks like he could have the talent, but he’s only a freshman and at 6’1 180 he needs to put on some weight…
Rando - January 3, 2012
Robert woods
Look em up . Straight monster .next years blackMon
Ram_Redemption - January 3, 2012 via mobile
Woods plays for usc right?
my favorite wr are from non-hyped prospects because they go to schools that arent top 5 or sec, then they hit the nfl and blow up.
Rando - January 3, 2012 via mobile
Yea usc
He is just so swift and fluid
Ram_Redemption - January 3, 2012 via mobile
And the surest hands in America :D
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
Keenan Allen, Kenny Stills, and Robert Woods come to mind.
Woods is as small as Sammy though, with probably a smaller frame as well. He’d be what Steve Smith (Giants/Eagles) was pre-injury IMO.
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
Ppl just love thr position too much
some people want ys to take a good wr top ten like you can’t find a player like him later (unless he’s calvin)
Ram_Redemption - January 3, 2012 via mobile
MUCK FICHIGAN!!
Brick Top - January 3, 2012
HOKIES NUMBAH WANH!!!!
kinzav29 - January 3, 2012
Holy shit,
Molk hurt in pregame warmups. That fuckin’ sucks lol, bad luck.
douchiedude - January 3, 2012
yeah possibly an expensive injury for him
dbcouver - January 3, 2012
Converted this into the open thread
Turf Show Radio went longer than anticipated (thanks for sticking it out, Van) and I’m beat. Gonna watch as much of this as I can in bed…probably about 10 minutes
3k - January 3, 2012
Jayron Hosley-CB(VA Tech)
Could be a guy to look at in the 2nd or 3rd round. I give him a mid-2nd round grade, but his stock could rise or fall, it’s a looooong way to go. Also, Mike Martin-DT(Michigan) could be a good mid-round prospect for us
turpinforpresident - January 3, 2012
i'm the kind of person that LOVES
a high power offense, but i feel like we are good OLB and a good DT aware from having a defense that scares QBs, if you CB come back healthy i think they should be able to cover well enough to allow our men up front to put pressure on the QB. If the defense keeps improving like it has been, and allows bradford and jackson to have a more manageable game, i’ll be happy. i would love to get asente samuel… hell give them smith… although i’m probably the only rams fan that is hoping smith gets a new coach and flashes some brilliance next year lol… i just cant give up on him..
Rando - January 3, 2012
OLBs and a good DT away from having**
Rando - January 3, 2012
We do have some good corners
But sadly, we’ve seen how they get hurt. It’s kind of an anomaly, but it always seems to happen. I think we need to stock up on CBs so we don’t have a situation like this past year. I think middle rounds of the draft and free agency would be good places to look. Shaun prater, donnie fletcher, brandon boykin, coryell judie, jamell fleming, and dequan menzie would be some good names to remember. If we did happen to go corner in the second, my favorites would be stephon gilmore, jayron hosley, and chase minnifield
turpinforpresident - January 3, 2012
I wish we had depth like the nyg
And eagles. It is ridiculous. The have like 4 good cb a piece. Id be happy with one of their cbs.
Rando - January 3, 2012 via mobile

howie43 - January 3, 2012
Good question
King Sam Rules! - January 4, 2012 via mobile

Rando - January 4, 2012
