The St. Louis Rams missed out on the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. A Colts loss in the season's final week gave St. Louis the second pick in the draft, for the second time in three years. It's a nice consolation prize, and the consensus seems to be that the Rams can make a lucrative draft day trade for the second spot with teams likely to covet Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III.
Yesterday, ESPN's John Clayton told 101 ESPN radio in St. Louis that draft day trades are likely to start with the second pick in the draft, the Rams' spot, because of RG3. The second spot won't fetch as much as the first pick will this year, but it should be more than enough to help a Rams team in need of an injection of youthful talent. If you think about the price Atlanta paid to move up to the sixth spot for Julio Jones last year, you can get a pretty good idea of what the second pick might fetch this year ... and it would likely be more than the first-, second- and fourth-round picks in 2011 and the first- and fourth-round picks in 2012 that the Falcons traded.
Of course, this is all predicated on Griffin entering the draft this year. Chris Mortensen of ESPN believes that RG3 will indeed declare by the middle part of next week.
Mortensen also maintains his belief that Griffin will be the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
The new low, low prices for top ten picks in the NFL Draft removes the trepidation many teams had about trading up into the top part of the draft.
The second pick in 2011, Von Miller, received a four-year, $21 million deal. The third pick, Marcell Dareus, received a four-year, $20.4 million deal. Trading into the second spot would remove any doubts for a team wanting Griffin.

Yea Martin has to be the pick.....From what I've seen is Jeffrey has dropped on most boards and figures to be drafted this draft where Johnathan Baldwin got picked last draft
And that’s a fair comparison really…big with lots of talent and no QB really to throw to him, not a burner but athletic and a big play type…..If we do get CLE’s two 1st rounders then I do believe we can grab Martin and Jeffrey with those picks.

If the Rams can get a bounty of pics they’ll definitely need to do that. I’d hate to see hem miss out on a LT stud like Matt Kalil though. But Jonathan Martin from Stanford and Jeffery from South Carolina sure would help the Rams AND Sam Bradford. It’s gonna be an interesting off-season. I like the fact that Vermeil and Marshall Faulk are helping in the search for the Rams new GM and Head Coach.

With having an aging QB with severe neck problems...
I highly doubt the Colts will bypass the opportunity to get their next franchise QB. Especially after tasting what life would be like w/o a franchise QB last season. Manning has maybe 3 yrs left in his career. He could hang up the cleats next season if his neck problems don’t get better. Luck is off the board with the 1st pick, don’t get fooled by all of the draft hype.

If last year’s draft is any indication, teams will trade up to get him. Especially if he’s a tier higher than the next receiver on the list.

you did not include Cleveland on your list. They appear desirous for a franchise QB and we know RG3 won’t last until #4. I would insert them in over Seattle. Carrol has made a strong public statement in local Seattle papers that Tavaris is his QB in 2012. I think Seattle will use their top pick to either replace Curry or perhaps go after Jeffrey. Sidney Rice got pummeled this year and that last concussion he absorbed looked brutal.
No way Kalil lasts beyond Minnesota at #3.
I suspect the media will make a big issue of RG3 vs. Luck at the overall #1 spot since that debate will sell media space. Also, although we caught a break with Barkley staying in school and getting the #2 pick it will be interesting to see if that is offset by potential suitors for Flynn after the game he had against the Lions.

RGIII as a Redskin?
I can totally see him running around making plays for a year or so until they get their O-line straightened out. He might take a beating though. Plus they don’t have the extra picks. How about Miami giving up the proven LT and maybe a 2nd and third this year and a #1 and #3 next year. Hate to lose out on JB, though.
