Sunday morning, Pro Bowl Sunday, it seems like a nice chance to take a break from the hum drum of relocation, stadium construction and lease tit-for-tat taking a page from the NFL lockout school of public negotiations. The most interesting football game of the weekend took place yesterday in Mobile, AL. This year's Senior Bowl featured a pretty talented group of players, many that will be on the St. Louis Rams' radar when the 2012 NFL Draft rolls around in April.
Here are five names that ought to be on the Rams' draft board based on their play this week in Mobile. We'll be taking a closer look at these players in the week ahead too.

Cordy Glenn, OG/OT, Georgia - All Glenn did this week was take on the the best pass rushers in this draft class, including Quinton Coples, Melvin Ingram and Courtney Upshaw, his mates on the South roster. He showed potential on the outside, but displayed elite talent on the inside as a guard.
Doug Martin, RB, Boise State - Martin had a second-round grade before this week. Now, he looks like he could be the second running back off the board after Trent Richardson. Why? Simple, he does it all and does it well ... even pass blocking.
Kendall Reyes, DT, UConn - Under the radar prior to this week, Mobile was a coming out party for the North squad defensive tackle. Reyes worked his way into the backfield in practice and during the game, regardless of the offensive linemen tasked with blocking him. He measured 6'4" 300 lbs and had all the athleticism and strength a 4-3 team could want in a three-technique.
Bobby Wagner, OLB, Utah State - Wagner drew rave reviews for his performance in yesterday's game from Mocking the Draft. He's a workhorse guy who has a natural feel for coverage and seeking out the ball because of his instincts. Wager stands 6'0" 240 lbs with a well-anchored frame that helps him bring down ball carriers. Could be a good second round pick for the Rams.
Marvin Jones, WR, Cal - Jones might have been the biggest winner of the week, especially since Michael Floyd and Kendall Wright missed the action in Moble. Jones showed good hands and a polished route running ability to with the size, 6'3" 226 lbs, teams like to see in a wide receiver. Don't be surprised to see his name at the bottom of the first round in upcoming mock drafts.

Phillip Blake The Baylor Center
Looked great at the practices this past week. He also showed versatility by playing OG during the Senior Bowl.
OLB Nigel Bradham, Fla St displayed coverage ability and closing speed. He is a strong sure tackler.
WR Juron Criner, Arz has been consistenty impressive,
S Brandon Taylor, LSU was impressive as well.

Guys who I think are sleepers are now moving up. Just because I thought they were sleepers doesn’t mean they weren’t all over the scouts notes though.

He Does Something
That sets him apart; he helps out the QB by quickly adjusting his route if he detects the QB is in trouble. Criner adjust to poorly thrown balls and excels on come back routes. Those come back routes of his gets CB’s all turned around. LOL!

Well it's always been the case
It’s kind of hard not to concentrate on the SEC during the season. They probably double any other conference in shear numbers of players drafted. At least lately there is a balancing act that takes place during the spring.

One Pac-10(12) player picked in the last 5 years - 46 picks for the Rams.
Devany and company obviously didn’t scout out west. They flat out ignored players who were available (D.Jax anyone?). That said, I like Marvin Jones, but I’m not confident about him going in round one. He’s not Keenan Allen.
I’m looking forward to an experienced staff that knows how to scout. East, West, Mid-West – when you search the entire talent pool, you should find what you’re looking for.

I’ve felt an east coast bias towards cal, considering they’ve been able to churn out lots of NFL talent even without having top records the past few years.

I was really impressed by Bobby Wagner, wouldn’t shock me to see him go ahead of Zach Brown. Mike Adams was great too, maybe he slips to 22 and the Rams aquire him with the Browns pick but I doubt he slips. Joe Adams showed some elusiveness and explosion from what I thought was a lackluster group of wide recievers though he projects to be a slot reciever which the Rams have enough of. Juron Criner was decent too, might be worth drafting in the 6th round or so.
Isaiah Pead was good in special teams, but he showed some explosion with some elusiveness, he’d be a great change of pace back for the Rams. Doug Martin was solid at everything too. DT Mike Martin could be good too, he’s a real strong constant effort kind of guy and you could always use a DT like that.

I’d be willing to swap our pick for Clevelands two first rounders….Take Blackmon at #4 cause Kalil is gonna be gone… Hopefulll DeCastro falls to #22 (highly unlikely), if not pick Cordy Glenn or Peter Konz, then Doug Martin with our 2nd round pick….WIth Gregg Williams as D coordinator, and some of the playmakers our D has already (Long,Quinn,Laurinaitis), and our top 6CB"s coming back… I think we can address the Offense with our first three picks….CLEVELAND, DON’T BE STUPID…YOU NEED RG3

Doesnt have Demarco’s height and strength, but I think he has the ability to be taken as a secondary back who turns out being a starter

Who I have watched terrorize my hometown team, Fresno State. I watched him as a pass rusher at Boise, but apparently he has been making waves as a OLB prospect. He looks like a great Sam prospect for the Rams. If the Rams play their cards right, and can draft a guy like McClellin in the mid rounds, and a Will prospect in an earlier rounds, it could set the team up to improve their LB unit, which we all know has been such a problem for years now.

You've put some thought in these players.
I like Pead as well as everyone. His stock just went up hopely he’ll be there 3rd or 4th rd highly unlikely. I could see Wagner dropping under the radar in the 3rd. Martin could possibly slide abit. I like James eventhough undersized alittle better. M.Jones has alot of potenial & size. I would look at him pretty closely. There is a heavy stream of good talent in this years draft.

Senior Bowl....
Sorry but Senior Bowl practices and game does not make for a great future NFL player. Still find it funny that NFL scouts seem to judge a player’s abilities by that one game and practice than by the many games during the past season and season’s before. Can we all say Mardy Gilyard?

you have a point.
Senior bowl practices should only be used as a means of getting more contact with a prospect you already know all about. If the senior bowl is their only way of assessing that player they need to be fired.
If anything, if you don’t know the player the senior bowl should catch your attention so you do more background research and see how much more you like the guy.
When I see people improve draft stock through these practices I get more than a lil bit sceptical.

This is a fair point, with some exceptions
For example, it is an opportunity for scouts to see small school players against players from the big schools.
Additionally, some players get to play in different positions. A player who normally played DE, for example, might get to play OLB.

Not sure Mardy is a great example.
He had a rather inconsistent week at the Senior Bowl. I doubt the Senior Bowl was what put him over the top. He did a lot more over the course of his final season, particularly the Bowl game.
