Random Ramsdom 1/27

Random_ramsdom_medium

Hey everybody! Long time no see! I've been busy adjusting back to my college schedule but have no worries! I'll be getting back into the fold and get some post up for y'all. For now, let's get to the links.

What does "first tier" mean?

Matthew Hataway from stltoday.com had an article trying to make sense of what being a "first tier" stadium actually means. I recommend reading the full article for better details, but basically there are 14 categories that are being used to measure the Dome, and to be a first tier facility, it must place in the top 25% in each category. It's really difficult to judge what that even means. How good is top 25%? It still seems very unlikely that the Dome will pass this test.

Patrick Rishe, a sports economist at Webster University, said while the CVC might be able to satisfy some portions of the first-tier requirement, "I doubt very seriously that, without significant investment of let's say $200 to $300 million at least, the Edward Jones Dome could qualify overall."

Pro Bowl Tweeting

FYI, the Pro Bowl is this weekend. Many find this game a waste of time, but the NFL is trying to spruce it up by allowing the players to tweet on the sidelines at the game. If only Chad Ochocinco wasn't horrible now....

It's up to St. Louis to keep the team

Will from Ramsherd reminds us that it's not up to Stan Kroenke to stop the team from moving to LA or London; it's up to the city of St. Louis. The ball is in their court and it has been this entire time. The proposal about possible renovations to the Dome is due February 1st. The city will have to decide how much they want to keep the Rams in St. Louis, because if they propose a fair offer to Kroenke; one that is at least competitive with the lure of LA, and would allow for the development of a new stadium, Missouri native Stan Kroenke will keep the team in St. Louis in all likelihood.

Is the SB really a rematch of 2007?

Shalise Young of the Boston Hereld points out that of the 106 players in the 2007 game, only 23 remain. Yes the quarterbacks and the head coaches are the same, but the teams have both changed drastically in four years.

That's all for today. Have a good one and GO RAMS!!

Oh god cry me a river! Is it Stans fault that Rams made a deal with a bunch of idiots that run this city?

Meanwhile has the city even tried any negotiations beforehand? You know something like this.. “Well Stan, we want more than anything for the Rams to stay in St Louis and well we know what the contract says, but that was written by George…he is retired now and well he used to always come into work hammered and ended work at 2 to go to the strip club!” “As you know the economy is in the toilet and revamping the stadium into a top tier facility is wildly unpopular with St Louisians for obvious reasons.” “But the Rams also havent exactly put a quality product on the field since they have been in St Louis” “How about this, we will meet you half way and if you can get the the superbowl in x years and subsequent years playoff appearances blah blah blah..then we will build a new stadium.” “This way we can look good in front of the people and keep you here at the same time.”

…see not that hard to do, but I bet the City will be several weeks late on their proposal which will put them at a further weakened bargaining position

Also quit the bitching about the London thing. This just means there will be one home game where the Rams wont have to suck up their own tickets just to get air time on TV! For the City..its nationally televised and up to this point, their name is still the ST LOUIS Rams! Oh god no, that is a slap in the face to the City!!! Give me a break.

I would agree if it was one game

but three shows a complete lack of commitment to St. Louis and is a slap to the face of season ticket holders.

Thats true, those guys get seriously screwed if it were baseball, that is like missing what 20 games?

But unlike baseball, football makes its money off of the TV contracts so if you are trying to turn the product around, you gotta get a good team and then crawl back into the peoples good graces by getting them to see you win games.

I dont think the london thing says anything about the Rams and their relationship with the city. It just says that the owner is trying to maximize the potential revenue that can be generated by the team.
