Peyton Manning's future looks murky. The Colts seem intent on moving on, and Manning himself sounds like he knows it's over in Indianapolis. Many expect him to be released before the Colts are on the hook for a $28 million bonus due in early March. There's the possibility that the St. Louis Rams could be seeing more of Manning in the near future.
Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network reported on Tuesday that the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals could both be potential landing spots for Manning. This was the same report in which he cited sources who believe Washington will make an offer for the Rams' second pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Arizona would have to do some serious work to its offensive line, if the part about his likely destinations needing to have solid pass protection is true. But they do have a nice pairing in Larry Fitzgerald. Seattle's offensive line is pretty good thanks to a focus on that in recent drafts.
Trading down would give the Rams to really bolster their depth charts. If Manning does end up in the division, they damn well better think about their secondary.

I don't see him leaving Indy this season unless he is unable to play
I don’t think Indy will throw Luck to the wolves.
RAMpage28 - January 24, 2012
isn't it possible for them to save like 28mil
if they cut him?
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
MAN JEFF CANT GET AWAY FROM THIS DUDE
joemammaz - January 24, 2012
Came here to say that.. hahaha
m0pi1 - January 25, 2012
He should just retire
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
Agreed.
No need to risk a debilitating injury to your neck. You’ve got a Superbowl ring, multiple MVP/pro bowl/all pro selections, a ton of QB records and millions upon millions of dollars and will be a first ballet HOFer. Just fucking retire man!
DuhhhRams! - January 24, 2012
Yup, no need to risk a severe injury. He's accomplished plenty; but if Eli wins another ring, it'll probably make him come back and try for one more.
But I wouldn’t sign with a team that’s not in contention and just lacking the QB.
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
agreed!
one good hit…and its all she wrote for the $28 mil dollar man. retire dude….
Mark Jaramillo - January 24, 2012
Commercials
He can definently move on with his commercials cause his last one was F’ING HILARIOUS!!!!!!!
BurnoutJoeB. - January 25, 2012
His skit on SNL when he's beaning those kids with the football.
Hilarious.
DuhhhRams! - January 25, 2012
Agree on the retiring thing, but I really don't think he'd leave Indy.
Sure there’s problems there and he’s acknowledging there’s problems there, but he seems like the type of guy who’s embraced his community. Might be wrong but I don’t see him moving. Personally hope he retires though. One of the greatest, don’t wanna see him get paralyzed on the field.
HomerForTheRams - January 24, 2012
I think manning could make a good coach
Unless your name is Sean Payton, it’s a pretty safe gig.
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
Have you guys read
this or heard about this?
I wouldn’t put it past the Pats to cheat, then again I’m a Rams fan, not bitter at all…..
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
anythings possible with belicheat serg....
i would not doubt it one bit! josh mcdaniels make the call?…hmmmmmmm.
Mark Jaramillo - January 24, 2012
I wouldn't
put it past them. If they tape walkthroughs and mug receivers at the line until they’re told to stop, I wouldn’t put anything past Belicheck.
thisguy - January 24, 2012
I don think hes retiring
If he has a full bill of health from the doc and he can play, I say play. Still a top 3 Qb in the league no matter if its in indy. I think he stays thought because he built that place. Plus he could be useful if Luck isn’t ready.
RG31 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
Chip Kelly
Didn’t sign with the bucs cause they got no mobile QB. Manning no mobile QB….I think hurry up offense starts to shine in 2012. Shotgun!!!! RG3 worth a Billion!!!! Mobile QB = trouble for Defenses. Can you say, Cam “the Rocket Man Neutron Bomb”?
fearsomefoursum - January 24, 2012
Know who doesnt care if Peyton's in a halo for the rest of his life?
This guy!
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
There were rumors the Jets would pursue Peyton, but...
if Jerry Jones were smart, he’d dump Romo, draft a QB for the future and go after Peyton for a couple years. Another surprise team he would fit in with would be Houston if Schaub’s injury doesn’t heal that fast.
RAMbunctious - January 24, 2012
so I'm watching sports science
Gronkowski scored more TDs than the entire Rams team.
Wow we sucked. :(
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
In 2009, I think there were a couple of punters with more TDs...
Douglas M - January 24, 2012
Say what you want, but if Peyton is healthy, and plays for Seattle... That would be scary-bad guys!
The one thing missing from Seattle this last season was a leader at QB. Peyton can hit every corner of the field, so Baldwin and Tate would be scary too
Douglas M - January 24, 2012
I could live with it.
We’re not playoff ready anyways. Carroll and the Seahawks would just be doing the exact same thing that Whisenhunt and the Cards did with Warner. Sure they’d dominate for a year or two, but once Manning leaves the building, what happens? Maybe Derek Anderson will be available again in 2014?
Unless he gets a call from San Fran, NYJ, Baltimore or any other Super Bowl qualified team, I think any team would be crazy to set themselves up for failure 2 years down the road, since it seems to be inconceivable in today’s NFL to have an aging franchise QB while grooming his predecessor at the same time. Teams just cut players loose and move on.
Joe Mazzi - January 24, 2012
What about Aaron Rodgers?
I’m not sure how much tutelage Farve provided but it worked out pretty good for Green Bay. I think that Irsay will talk to Manning and then cut him loose and draft Luck. Manning won’t make the 2-14 Colts a playoff contender, or will he?
Mister T - January 24, 2012
hate to say it but months ago
i predicted that peyton would end up in the nfc west
seems like a no brainer
not there yet
but don’t be surprised
jswirb - January 24, 2012
I got to 'I predicted....'
and knew it was you. Didn’t even finish reading it. Thanks for ruining your awesomeness for me
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
he still hasn't gone anywhere.
and again – fuck off.
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
you're never gonna get that 'cup of joe'
with language like that
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
Meh. At this point I just hate this guy.
Bet his name is Gaylord.
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
and i would still draft robin griffin
bradford has proven nothing
beaten 1 winning team in 2 years
and his fundamentals are horrid
jswirb - January 24, 2012
is Robin Griffin RG3's mom?
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
Wants us to draft a QB that he doesn't even know who he is..
Joe Mazzi - January 24, 2012
sure he does
he won the Hellman’s Trophy
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
Wasn't she on The Cosby Show?
The Huxtables’ next door neighbor?
FailureDrill - January 24, 2012 via Android app
Think that was robin givens lol
Ram_Redemption - January 24, 2012 via mobile
what round is Mel Kiper predicting her to go?
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
Number one
Way better than andrea luck

Peyton in the nfc west?
Hide yo wife hide yo kids!

Lmfao!
Ram_Redemption - January 24, 2012 via mobile
That vid cracked mr up
Douglas M - January 24, 2012
**me**
Douglas M - January 24, 2012
i'm not kiddein --i'd draft the heisman winner
give bradford some competition
and let the best one play
honestly bradford has shown some potential
but only a limited amount
jswirb - January 24, 2012
keep em both?
thats what you’re saying? I guess we’ll address WR, OL, DL, CB, LB, RB, ETC. starting at pick 33. Great idea! Anyone agree?
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
O yea lets do that
Don’t forget to turn off my x box when your done
Ram_Redemption - January 24, 2012 via mobile
so YOU don't think it's feasible
to keep both QB’s?!?! Because the way I see it, if RG3 is to outperform Bradford, we’ve got 70+ million sitting on the bench……..what’s the problem?
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
Depends
Can we create playrrs to fill out the rest of our franchisee mode?
Ram_Redemption - January 24, 2012 via mobile
That idea is the bees knees!
FailureDrill - January 24, 2012 via Android app
jswirb isn't kiddein", he wants Robin! He should be our GM after he gets his G.E.D.
Douglas M - January 24, 2012
Haha
did you get my email?
Joe Mazzi - January 24, 2012
I'll check. BRB
Douglas M - January 24, 2012
Gave it a quick read. It's very good, but a few titches. I'll do a pass edit in the morning.
Douglas M - January 24, 2012
Cool. Sounds good.
Joe Mazzi - January 24, 2012
hey douglas if you are sold on sam ----your kidding your self
and G.E.D. is that something i get after i got my masters
jswirb - January 24, 2012
then you did it backwards
I also went to pre-school after high school. And when you were getting that masters, did they teach you difference between ‘your’ and ’you’re’, or ‘your self’ and ‘yourself’? Clearly, they did not
DCRamFan - January 24, 2012
Your so humorous in you're comments
Joe Mazzi - January 24, 2012
I moved to the south so I could get by with just 'yerself'
LARams1968 - January 24, 2012
lol!
Mark Jaramillo - January 24, 2012
boom.
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
come on DC, you know that they tell people fake things when they're in the loony bin
be nicer to the clinically insane here on TST
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
This just might be your most absurd contribution yet.
Please, enlighten us with some credentials. We can wait while you copy something from the internet.
FailureDrill - January 24, 2012 via Android app
true story:
I might get my G.E.D.
Josh Wehrle - January 24, 2012
Good luck and congrtulations
LARams1968 - January 24, 2012
Not sure if you're being serious
but if you are, thank you. I’m only considering doing it because I exactly been the type of student I can be, and at this point, with my ACT scores and a G.E.D. I can get into the same colleges that I would get into if I just stayed in school through my graduating year (2013).
Josh Wehrle - January 24, 2012
Yeah, I'm serious
I’m all for people improving themselves. I’m 52 and still go to college sometimes. I get a feeling of satisfaction from it even if I’m not educating myself for a new career.
Keep up the good work and go to college.
LARams1968 - January 24, 2012
Gracias
I’m kinda worried that I put that on here, because I don’t want people questioning my intelligence (as some of my friends have) because of the whole G.E.D. thing. I figure if I can get started in college (I’ll likely be going to the same college I would have gone to upon graduation, Ohio University) early, then that will be better for me than sitting in a school that I don’t like for the next year and a half. Not that you care lol I’m just explaining my reasoning behind this decision so other people on here don’t think less of my opinions or anything.
Josh Wehrle - January 24, 2012
I almost thought of going to Ohio university because of their great sport management program
but Illinois has a great one and I love the Illini. Here’s to hoping you get in and don’t worry what others think about your intelligence. Laugh when you get that degree buddy!!
Brick Top - January 24, 2012
Thanks Brandon
that actually means a lot, I appreciate it.
Josh Wehrle - January 24, 2012
No problem man
Brick Top - January 24, 2012
You have always had my respect. Get the G.E.D. and go straight to college. No pause, no I need abreak
For most, getting a G.E.D. is more about circumstance than it is intellect. I know quite a few folks that have their G.E.D. and they are wicked smart!
If you want me to the essay portion for you, let me know! lol
Douglas M - January 24, 2012
Thanks Doug!
Feel free to do my essay too lol
Josh Wehrle - January 25, 2012
you must be joking
We can trade those picks to washington and get carriker back. sign moss and owens and we’re back in the SB.
LARams1968 - January 24, 2012
we did draft a heisman winner
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
PUPPY BOWL!!
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
Well that's the best thing I've seen all day.
Joe Mazzi - January 24, 2012
Hamsters piloting a blimp, puppy cam and chicken cheerleaders
absolute awesomeness.
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
Miami
A lot of talk about Peyton today, earlier reports today have said that Miami had their sights set on Peyton! I just guess that this will be one of the hottest topics until the Colts make an announcement.
bwramsfan - January 24, 2012
that's pretty far away from STL
but I think we play AFC East next year?
sergey606 - January 24, 2012
Oh God, not Seattle
He is exactly what they need. A Hasslebeck type of QB…..Whoops….should have resigned old Matty! Didn’t want to pay him during rebuilding, so now you pay Manning??? Well, we didn’t know we would be this good….And theys gots to resign Lynch….He is the best catch in FA this year….next to Vin Jax or Colston.
fearsomefoursum - January 24, 2012
Is it wierd?....
That I feel disgusted about the things that SF fans tweeted to Kyle Williams but want to say the same thing to jswirb? I fucking hate that guy. And Mr . Education…please explain to me how you attained a masters degree when you can’t spell masters….or degree?
Rcoon1307 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
well I wouldn't put a death threat out
but I’d tell him to get off TST, STAT.
sergey606 - January 25, 2012
Peyton to Fitz?
I don’t want to think of that at all.
OakCityRam - January 25, 2012
I am not sure why they are not talking about San Fran being a home for Peyton.
It is obvious that Alex Smith is not the QB to lead this team to any great success, and the Niners have their QB of the future [supposedly] in Kaepernick, so “renting” Peyton for a year or two could be huge for them.
Manning does not need outstanding WRs and will make the mediocre SF O Line look a lot better than it is.
Perhaps they don’t have the space in their CAP for him.
NorthLeft12 - January 25, 2012
ive figured out who jswirb is guys..
the ghosts of linehan and zygmut suggesting ways to further jack up our team for years to come!
