The St. Louis Rams new offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, wants to feature multiple running backs in his new offense. Steven Jackson will still be the feature back.

Brian Schottenheimer, the St. Louis Rams newly hired offensive coordinator, was introduced to the media on a Tuesday afternoon conference call. Since his departure from the Jets, a job he held for the last six years, Rams fans looked at the hire with some suspicion, wondering what exactly he could do for the league's worst offense. Schottenheimer cleared up a few questions on the call.

One thing fans can expect to see in St. Louis is more of a true two-back system.

"I just think it's a good way to attack people, but there's always been a primary or a featured back and there's guys that compliment that primary back and gives the defense different looks and things like that," Schottenheimer said. "What we've always done is we've had kind of a guy that's truly the starter and then we've had a guy that's a little a bit more of a change of pace back. Again, one of the things that we believe is that you need depth. You need depth a lot of different positions, not just tailbacks, but if you can have guys that bring a different element, then we want to use those guys."

Steven Jackson shouldn't worry; the Rams' all-time leading rusher will still be the lead horse in the Rams ground game. Instead of 25 carries a game for Jackson, however, it sounds like fans can expect to see backs with a different style taking over some of the carries and creating matchups to confound defenses.

The Rams should have plenty of options for running backs in the 2012 NFL Draft. With a number of players like Chris Polk, Lamar Miller, etc. on the bubble between the first two rounds, the Rams could have some very solid options with the first pick in the second round.

Well...

This has been long overdue in the first place.

If not for the draft, we'd have to look to one of these losers.....draft it is!

steve slaton wouldnt be a bad pickup
seems to have issues holding on the ball

and did he even play this past season? He might’ve been 3rd on the depth chart. I’m not saying that none of these guys are good, but we aint getting Marshawn Lynch, and outside of Ray Rice and Matt Forte I don’t see any real ‘change of pace’ kinda guys, and certainly not one that can be on the roster for years to come. I will order a Chris Polk jersey today though, if it were available

Off that list (and those that are likely)

Snelling, Choice, and Bush

I like Michael Bush a lot

but I don’t see the Raiders letting that guy go, seeing as how McFadden is good for 6 games a season

Yeah Bush is the longest shot I mentioned.
hopefully Norwood is the longest shot
But I didn't mention him or caddy

for obvious reasons.

I say LaMicheal in the 4th..
Somewhere, Steven Jackson is at home reading this and screaming

WTF?

Chris Rainey from florida looked nice in Senior Bowl practices today.

Blew by janoris jenkins for an easy catch. looks like a sproles type weapon to me and can be found in mid to late rounds

If we can score Lamichael anytime after the 3rd I think we could have a dominate combo next year...

in my opinion he would be the perfect complement to Sjax, he would give Bradford a nice weapon out of the backfield.

Lamichael

Id take him in the 3rd round….just so we don’t miss out on him….resign Lloyd, draft Blackmon and Decastro after trading with the Browns, a DT in the 2nd, and it’s on for the Rams in 2012

Cornerback

We can address this position with Finnegan, and getting all of our own CB’s healthy
