Tennessee Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan could be the top cornerback on the free agent market in 2012 if his current team opts to let him walk. The Titans' plans for the 28-year old cornerback are still unknown. Finnegan himself believes that the team will let him walk, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

Finnegan was a seventh-round pick in 2006 whose rookie season was good enough to earn him a $15.4 million extension the year after that.
The Titans say that they have yet to make any determinations about Finnegan's future. He could get the franchise tag, which would exceed $10 million for one season, and the report says that the Titans have the financial flexibility to do that.
The Titans and Finnegan talked contract prior to the season, but it ended with nothing more than acrimony. At one point Finnegan walked out of camp.
Finnegan's on-field antics have earned him some negative attention, including an on-going battle with Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson that has looked more like something out of a hockey rivalry at times. Finnegan would likely be a luxury the Rams can't afford and lower on the priority list than other positions.

a 7th round pick? hopefully we can start drafting somewhat like that. this past year tn had a good draft and filled several holes on their defense. some coming in later rounds.

In a small, 28 year old CB who is clearly brainless if he picks fights with Andre Johnson.
He’d want a big pay packet and he’s too old to be worth it IMO.
Regardless of his character, I think we’d be better off investing in a DT, OLB or even TE…

He doesnt have character issues, especially off the field. He gets inside wr’s heads and takes their focus off the game(ex. Andre Johnson). Hes a top 10 corner. He’s 1 inch shorter then Revis.

One of the most disliked players league wide because he’s a dirty player.
I like the attitude he has, as you say getting in heads etc. But his execution of it is straight up dirty. You can’t respect that.

cortland is 5’9/5’10 and revis 5’11ish. everywheres different. I agree hes dirty, but thats the kind of defense were gonna have now with fisher here, not saying it will be dirty exactly, but will be “aggressive”. I dont mind his dirty playing that much. its a little annoying but i still like him. id rather him play for the rams then rams playing against him.
Harvery Dahl was in the top 10 for dirtiest players. He’s also our best linemen at the moment.
Dahl was mildly disappointed by that No. 8 finish in the SI.com poll — "Yeah a little bit. But at least I was in the top 10."

yeah hard to find accurate heights of players
I think the issue with Finnegan is he crosses the line and can cost the team with it.
He’s a good corner no doubt, however, all things considered, I’d rather we draft a good one in a mid round. This, as far as I’ve seen, is a solid CB class.

id be fine with that. just tired of our mid round picks being busts lol. Also depends on if Bartell comes back or if we let him go. If we let him go then i definatly want Finnegan. If he stays and Fletcher and Murphy stay Healthy then a cb in the mid rounds would be fine.

I’m just assuming Bartell returns. He’s been cleared already, and with his pay packet I can’t see him being cut unless he retires.
If Bartell goes and frees the cap room we need someone like Finnegan just because he’s best in the market and will allow us to develop a mid round pick (we need to draft more CBs – King has to go)

Sick of Being that little dog that gets kicked around
I am EXCITED to see a little dirty play from this team. I am tired of other teams comin in and kickin us around playing dirty and getting away with it and laughing at the Rams. This team needs players like that players with attitude, that can back it up. And Finn, as a CB that is what they are supposed to do, get under receivers skin so it gets them out of the game. We need attitude on our interior D line our ends have it and our middle LB has it. And the O line, we need some Kyle Turley’s (Attitude) on that line. I am not saying I want him but the only one that could get Haynesworthless to play his azz off was Fisher. With all the friken players on this team maybe he will be able to light a fire under some of those big fat lazy azz lineman that couldn’t move to protect Bradford at all.

If I was on the current roster, I’d be worried about my job! Fischer is going to get rid of alot of players. Gone are the days of pulling players off the streets to play. Finnegan with his toughness & aggravating leadership would definitely be better than what we got!!! I believe the toughness with the Fischer is coming!! Win or lose!!

Plays the game with his heart and head
Listen everyone, he is not dirty, he is smart. He gets into receivers heads and then plays with passion and if he can get a hit on a receiver then he takes it. The way every football player was taught from pop warner to high school ect. Just because teams like Houston or Indianapolis or New England have labeled him as dirty (they are the ones to talk, they are the reason the rules changed for DB’s cause of what they did in the SB against the Rams), I digress… The rams need a face like that to show teams this team is tired of getting kicked in the D!Ck every Sunday!!! Fish will make teams fear playing him just wait and see!!!
