Josh McDaniels not fired yet says Kevin Demoff. What it means.

Kevin Demoff said in the Rams press conference that Josh McDaniels was the only assistant coach who has not been fired. He said that both sides will take time to look at their options and make the best decision for both parties.

What this actually means is that the Rams organization isn't set on weather or not to fire Josh McDaniels just yet and they would rather have that decision be left to the new coach and GM.

Some reasons to support keeping Josh McDaniels are that he is a guy who has had amazing success in the NFL, but most with the Patroits and Tom Brady, and the offense he constructed in Denver wasn't too shabby. Furthermore, Sam Bradford would be in his third offensive system in the same number of NFL years and this could hurt his career (a la, Alex Smith).

On the other hand, the Rams were easily the worst offense in the league in his first year as coordinator. They scored less than 200 points on the season and at times had very questionable decisions, such as he failure to adequately use Steven Jackson in the red zone.

There are three scenarios that could happen with Josh McDaniels and the Rams:

1. The Rams hire a new coach and GM that decide they want to continue to have Josh as the offensive coordinator.

2. Josh McDaniels is offered another position and he decides that it would be best for his career to move on from the Rams and Sam Bradford. The Chiefs are a speculated destination for McDaniels.

3. The Rams new coach and GM decides they would be better off without Josh and let him go. This could happen because the Rams hire a offensive coach who would obviously want to install his own system. Another possible way is the new coach want to hire a coordinator that fits what he offensive system he prefers or one that he feel more comfortable with.

Time will tell if Josh McDaniels is with the Rams in 2012, but to be clear, not decision has been made yet on that subject by the St. Louis Rams.

He cheated

Again as I said in the other post – he had defensive walkthroughs of opponents in NE and Denver (at least he was caught in Denver but wouldn’t admit it).

Let’s not give him too much credit – it’s easy to come up with an offense when you know what the defense is planning.

Hopefully they are hanging onto him just in case some other team wants to hire him as HC and thus give the Rams compensation….

That's most likely

They are holding him to get something for him. Anyone up for a Josh McD and Lloyd for Bowe deal? And yes, I know that’s ridiculous

This!

Shoulda traded spags to phili for cromartie..

we had no leverage in the Spags situation
Was being payed head coach money

No one pays a DC that much money

I know,

Just dreaming of a way to fill holes… I’ve given up on the draft lol

While I think McDaniels is a GOTS-to-go

I do love the idea of screwing over the Chefs – first, by taking their draft picks; second, by giving them McDaniels.

Perhaps all these Patriots assistants are overrated because of the videotaping

they did forever and ever. That would really explain the lack of success they’ve had. I don’t think any NFL owners will tolerate cheating except for Belechik who has an iron fisted control of the team. Kinda glad to see the Belechek mysticque is over with and good coaches are hired instead of frauds.

I think most likely is they get something for him from the Chiefs or someone

And I still say: Get Jeff as head coach and Norv Turner as the OC and that is a potent combo

Yeah the Chiefs want McDaniels bad - they got ORton from Denver

and will probably give up draft picks for McDaniels.

And especially if Lloyd would go to them too.....

They have Orton, Lloyd (Their leading WR), Bowe, Baldwin, and Jamal Charles that Mc D can play with oh wow thats firepower……All we have is Sjax really damn thats a no brainer for the Mac right?

Plus, apparently if he goes, Brandon Loyd goes. Loyd has said he wants to work with McDaniels

Let's trade them both for Bowe then

Haha

Since theres no afternoon bowl thread yet..

Do e take lamichael james if he falls to 4+

I didn't like the thing about when he plays elite D-Lines he goes to crap

But in the 4th maybe, depends what we already have/need.

I like him as a change of pace back,

If he was able to put on weight he might evolve into a starter down the road (ray roce, mjd), but I wont hold my breath.

They have broad shoulders and big hips

He doesn’t, weight won’t work on him as well

Do we take lamichael james if he falls to 4+

No Montee Ball is a monster

he is beasting it up…!

If he is there in the 4th- we draft him no matter f'in what!
No, too brittle

We need oline dts and olbs . And why is there No rose bowl thread?

As bad as McD has been this season

If he stayed there would be consistency with the offense which is what we need.

Hope they keep him

But either way I hope they make the best choice for the offense.

If

he stays you better blow up the entire offense. This team does nt have the skill set to run this O. How much more proof do you need? By the way no excuses about shortened off season or injuries because it didn’t work for Spags.

Tampa fired Raheem Morris. He was spectacular in his first season but then crumbled in his second. He’s still young. Maybe his first HC gig was a learning experience. Any love for Rams grabbing Morris as coach?

we should have just kept Spags then by that logic

i think raheem is more than a decade younger than spags and morris had a 10-6 season which spags never had

And in a much tougher division, but no. I’ll give him a look as a DC

But

He only beat 2 teams with winning or 500 records last year I think?

I was giving him a little credit

I give him no interview for HC, maybe DC

He's a good Rooney Rule interview if the Rams get things locked up w/ Fisher
I hear

ya just saying the people who wanted Spags gone would go crazy if he was hired because his accomplishments are no different.

I dont have a clue who will be best a hc

All I know is he better have an eye for talent, whether it is through the draft or fa..

What is the chance they promote him to HC?
0 to the 87491747256th power.
That's still zero
I'm aware.

However I’m certain more than a few readers/commentors were accessing a calculator before you wrote that.

I vote for the 3rd option...

McD sucks.

It's just a money move IMO

No way McD is still here next season. If someone wants to hire him away, the Rams get out of paying him the rest of his salary. If he is fired, they are on the hook for the rest of the contract. Might save the team a few mil if the Chiefs make an offer for head coach, or if another team wants him for OC.

you guys are too funny first of all McHoody was not hired by Devaney he was brought here by Kroenke thats Stans boy lol

so why should he still not be here Sam wants him to stay and Kroenke told Devaney to get him in the first place ,McD will only go if Stan wants him out chance is that he will be here next year as the OC regardless of HC, Stand pays the bills not the HC lol

No one is really sure who hired McD
I mean Stan pays the bills
