7 months ago: GREEN BAY, WI - OCTOBER 16: St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo looks on against the Green Bay Packers during the first half at Lambeau Field on October 16, 2011 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images)
The Rams former head coach has found a new job. Jay Glazer has reported that Steve will indeed return as a coach in the NFL, for the Saints.
This was the best move the Saints could make, after losing Gregg Williams to the St. Louis Rams earlier this week.
Sadly, the Rams don't play the Saints next season, but they will play them in 2013, in what will be an interesting game for sure. But that's too far in the future to talk about now.
Steve Spagnuolo, who didn't exactly leave a mark on the Rams like everyone thought he would when he was hired as the Rams head coach. Say what you want to about Steve, but I always thought he had a nice defensive scheme, and it was obvious that the offense was the problem.
With that being said, Steve getting fired will help the Rams and the Saints. The Rams got their veteran head coach in Jeff Fisher and the Saints get a good defensive coordinator.
After how well the Rams defense played against the Saints offense, I'm surprised this move took this long. Anyway, like always leave comments down below.

Vikings announce hiring of Brendan Daly a defensive line coach. Daly was with Spags' staff in St. Louis as d-line coach for 3 seasons.
jacksonville to hire Sylvester Croom as running backs coach. Croom was Rams running backs coach for three yeas under Steve Spagnuolo.

Congrats to the Saints.
Great move for them, and pretty natural considering the past Rams/Saints games.

Normally, when I do something bad I get punished!
So congrats, Spags…you’re fortune is different than mine
DCRamFan - January 19, 2012
the pay cut
is a punishment, although there’s less pressure one the defense there, considering the offense can win games.
Rando - January 19, 2012 via mobile
yea, he could easily be in a SB next year
DCRamFan - January 19, 2012
Child please....
No matter what, the HC takes the fall, but let’s be real. The only thing that changed from last year to this year was the lockout and Josh McDaniels. How is it that the D made plays and the O places them back on the field every 3 minutes? How can any defense last under those kinds of conditions? We’re St. Louis, not Baltimore. Our defense under Spags was good, but good isn’t good enough when your offense is barely scratching the category called “inept”. I say the one responsible for this craziness skated his way right back home where it was safe, New England. Frankly, if Josh had an offseason with the guys, I would bet my life we wouldn’t even be having these posts. We might be waiting for our game this weekend.

Sorry, we might have been waiting for our game this weekend...oops
James Goldbleu - January 19, 2012
huh?
I have no clue what your point is here. What I was saying is that Spags left a team with 2 wins (and 10 after 3 seasons) to go to a team that I think he’ll only make better, which is, and has been, a SB contender.
I’m guessing you have a personal vendetta with McDaniels? And apparently, if he’d been with us all offseason we’d be in the NFC Championship????

Guess Josh ran the team the past 3 years...

"and the Saints get a good offensive coordinator."
joemammaz - January 19, 2012
^this.
Rando - January 19, 2012 via mobile
bout time the Saints fix that offense
They’d be in the NFC Championship game if they could have scored 10 more points a game
Infemous - January 19, 2012 via mobile
i think we can expect them to be dominant for a while longer
Spags will make that team ridiculously lethal and he’ll be a HC again within 3 years… Hopefully in the AFC
Infemous - January 19, 2012 via mobile
you are correct
markg1127 - January 19, 2012 via mobile
Yeah, someone will make that mistake again...
Da Rams! - January 19, 2012
Are you for real hahaha Spags will never again be a HC he does not have that many years left to live to learn to be a HC hahaha
Rammon105 - January 20, 2012
Good for him.
I wish him all the best. I don’t think it was going to work here for him, but he came into an impossible situation and, I think, made the most of it. Hell, after Linehan’s final season, can anyone HONESTLY say they thought we’d just barely miss out on the playoffs two years later? Great hire for the Saints.
RamsFan28 - January 19, 2012
You guys have to check out the Eagles Board
They are going absolutely crazy over their about Spags going to the Saints. It is truly hilarious a must see.

James Goldbleu - January 19, 2012

Rammon105 - January 19, 2012
Our D was good
Just spent way to much time on the field do to crappy offense, so they got worn out and gave up a lot of big plays
ChrisL951 - January 19, 2012
the SUCKED buddy wake up all year they gave up big plays
Rammon105 - January 20, 2012
Glad Spags landed on his feet. New Orleans got themselves a great DC
Douglas M - January 19, 2012
Hey Doug
I sent in my picks a few minutes ago. Did you get them?
LARams1968 - January 19, 2012
I'll check. I'm sure they are great
Douglas M - January 19, 2012
Well
I asked the HR girl, at work, to channel her inner Tebow and help me out. So if the lineup sucks its her fault.
LARams1968 - January 19, 2012
Spags can go get bent for all i care
Rammon105 - January 20, 2012
you thought he had a nice defensive scheme? he SUCKED we had the worst defense in the league bar none
Rammon105 - January 19, 2012
False.
Joe Mazzi - January 19, 2012 via mobile
I love your enthusiasm
Eric Nagel - January 19, 2012
Good for him
Now let’s never fucking talk about him again!!
Brick Top - January 19, 2012
I have an Idea!
Let’s talk about how Spags is going to make the Saints an amazingly great defensive team.
RAMpage28 - January 19, 2012
Congrats to Spags
I know I’ve given him my fair share of shit, and its been deserved in my opinion, especially with this past season. But, good to see that he’s going back to strictly D coordinator. And, with a pretty elite team at that in the Saints
mb44 - January 19, 2012 via mobile
"Feee-Ga-RO, Fee-Ga-RO !!!"
looks like Spags is crooning opera there
VTramsFan - January 20, 2012
Well
I would say that makes them the odds on favorite to go all the way next year.
RWRAMS28 - January 20, 2012
That picture can't be Spags... maybe he is in the middle of clapping after an INT?
RamSarge - January 20, 2012
I wish him the best.
Le Ram - January 20, 2012

Rammon105 - January 20, 2012

Rammon105 - January 20, 2012
