The spring obfuscation game is starting. Offseason NFL trade rumors are already popping up about the 2012 NFL Draft and whether or not teams will be looking to trade up in order to draft Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III. The Cleveland Browns are mentioned most often, since they have two picks in the first round. Already, there are conflicting reports about their intentions to trade.
Will they or won't they?
Steve Wyche at NFL.com says the Browns want to swing a deal to move up to the second spot. He projects as much in his mock draft and throws out this little nugget in the comments.
Several teams are going to try and move up to get Griffin but the Browns have the most ammo -- the fourth overall pick and a late first-rounder or high picks in later rounds. Cleveland needs Griffin -- and wants him, according to league sources -- and the Rams will still get their man.
Then again, maybe they aren't looking to trade. The Akron Beacon Journal says otherwise.
It would, however, be more surprising if the Browns traded up. General Manager Tom Heckert covets draft picks - he made the blockbuster draft-day trade last year with the Atlanta Falcons so he could stockpile selections - and the Browns have so many holes to fill on their roster.
The Browns have traded down the last two years in the draft, most famously in 2011 as the Falcons moved up to the sixth spot to draft Julio Jones.
Two other teams that could be entrants into the RG3 trade derby are the Washington Redskins and the Miami Dolphins.

And I can seriously see Thadeus Lewis in Rams uniform again this fall.
Think about it. If the Browns draft RG3 then Lewis will probably become roster cut casualty. The only other team with higher dibs on waived players than the Rams are the Colts, who will be drafting Luck and will probably still have Manning in the fray. That means the Rams will have the next option of picking Lewis up after he is cut. Lewis would be a good fit in Fisher’s offense… a scrambling playmaking QB. Sam maybe #1, but Lewis will be one of the back-ups again.

Holmgren needs HIS qb guy
Holmgren came from from GB where Favre was the QB. Took Hasslebeck from GB to Seattle when he took that job. He needs HIS qb. Would love to get RG3. He just doesn’t want to show his hand. I think this works out great for the Rams but i suspect the deal doesn’t get done until draft day. And Fisher and Co. will want a steep price. HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!

I just hope Seattle and Tennessee join the mix to really stir the pot. Not that we’d trade our pick to Seattle unless they give us the house, but it’d be nice to get a bidding war started.

The Titans will not (and should not) make a trade for RG3...
The already have Locker who played great last year when called upon plus they are incredibly high on him. The have too many holes to fill to be trading picks and drafting another QB in the top 10 again. They will give Locker 3-4 years before even considering drafting another qb.

Hi guys, Browns fan here. I see no reason this can’t happen. If you swap with us and Minny takes Blackmon, then you’ll get Kalil handed to you. Depending on what else you get, probably 22 or 37, you could definitely see Floyd or Jeffrey at 22 or someone like Sanu or Wright at 37. I think the receiver rankings will shake up a lot before the draft but I doubt 5 WRs go in the first so anyone of those would help Sam. If Minny takes Kalil, and you really want a LT, Reiff or Martin is not as steep a drop off as people like to make it out to be. Martin did a great job protecting Luck or you can grab Blackmon or Claiborne and a couple more starters later. Seems like a win-win. Of course, for us ideally, you’ll take Kalil and we’ll just wait for RG3 at 4.

I cant see Griffen surviving with the defenses in the afc north. Cleveland had more dropped passes than any other team in the league. If anything the receivers need replaced not the quarterback.

I have to agree Colt is not a bad QB, not great but definently not bad. He has a good arm and is accurate but a decent presence in the pocket. IMO I think Cleveland won’t give up as much for RG3 of course we can speculate but I don’t see it happening.

I believe the Browns front office are throwing out smoke and mirrors to the extreme. They want everyone to think that they will move up in the draft just make sure to get RG3, but I can see them actually trading down.
I would love for them to trade down to Miami’s #8 spot. It is very likely that Trent Richardson would still be there at #8 and if not then they can go OT Riley Reiff. With Miami’s pick in the second round that would give Cleveland 4 guys in the top 40 players. Definitely can get some starters out of that.

If you read the Browns' forum...
a lot of Cleveland fans don’t see the logic or the value in giving up the ranch for RG3 and would be pretty peeved if they traded with the Rams. I don’t see RG3 curing any Cleveland woes though I would welcome a boatload of draft picks from them if they want to trade.

It’s kind of split, some don’t want to trade up, others think if Holmgren thinks RG3 is a SB caliber QB then you trade if needed. However, most of us don’t think we trade the farm for RG3. Most likely you get the 4th and either the 22nd or 37th pick and maybe a 4th rounder kicked in. You’re dropping 2 spots and can pick from anyone of 3 guys that will immediately improve your team.

Heckert Is a smart savy gm, we wont trade up for him unless you rams accept somthing small like a 3rd and maybe some crap players we dont want, otherwise we wont move, I dont see the rams moving all way down to 8 or 9 for miami(not sure which pick they have) so if you guys want value for a trade down you had better pray that flynn doesnt go to washington which is where he’ll want to go… oh and browns want RG3, they are both enamored with fast QBs, shurmers pet QB was Thad, and Holmgren loves seneca wallace, both fast QBs that were brought here by those gentlemen respectivly, and were lookin at brad Childress for OC, and his pet QB was tavaras jackson, do we see a bit of a pattern, RG3 will be wearing a browns uniform next year and we wont trade you guys very much deff not a 1, or 2

You’re nuts if you think the Browns are gonna get the #2 pick for a swap and a 3rd rounder….It will be a minimum of both 1st rounders, and either a 2nd rounder or maybe next years 1st round pick…If not, RG3 will be shining in Miami or Washington, while Colt Mccoy suffers another concussion……RG3 is legit, and the Browns know it…..they can put together the most attractive trade package…and will do it on draft day

Like I said we wont trade up then, the team has too many holes to give up 2 high picks to move up only 2 picks, mark my words the rams will trade with browns probably for little to nothing just to preserve the chance for either blackmon or kalil. washington will end up with either peyton manning or matt flynn, and the browns will laugh at what the rams want for the pick knowing good and well that they dont want the 9th pick or 8th im not sure where miami is slotted, if you think the browns will give essentially the same picks we got to move down from 6 to 29 just to move from 4 to 2 you are nuts plus our picks are greater than what we got from atlanta so you would be expecting more for us to make that move, think about it.. nobody is that dumb so move out of dream land, the only way the rams secure 2 number 1s and a 2 is if they trade down to the mid to late 20s
