The St. Louis Rams are still searching for a general manager, having hired their head coach, Jeff Fisher, last week. Two candidates for that position, Lake Dawson and Ruston Webster, received promotions from their current team, the Tennessee Titans, on Wednesday. That takes two candidates out of the pool for the Rams.
Webster was promoted to Executive Vice President/General Manager. Dawson moved up to Vice President of Player Personnel.
The Rams received permission to interview Webster, but have not done so. They interviewed Dawson last Tuesday, before Fisher made his decision.
Those two join another two GM candidates out of the running. The Colts hired Ryan Grigson as their GM, and the Ravens moved to keep Eric DeCosta, who will eventually take over the GM job there.
Les Snead, the Director of Player Personnel for the Falcons, and Steve Keim, the Director of Player Personnel for the Cardinals, are the other two candidates the Rams are known to have interviewed.
At Tuesday's press conference, Rams COO Kevin Demoff said that they will put their GM search on hold until Fisher completes the process of hiring his coaching staff. Fisher will also be involved in the GM search. They said that there are a number of candidates for the job on their list.

You think
we should have signed a GM first ?

Nah.
I believe one of the bigger selling points to Fisher was that he’d have significant input toward the GM selection.

Wasn't Devaney a product of the Falcons FO? If so, why would we want Snead?

one of them was probably responsible for their above average drafting
and we chose the wrong one, now we’re going back to get the other lol

Just goes to show you companies promote when they're afraid of losing someone instead of when someone deserves it.

Gee... I wonder why they got those promotions a few days after Fisher was promoted?

Ack! I meant, Gee... I wonder why they got those promotions a few days after Fisher was hired?

I don't understand why L. Dawson would be out of the running for our GM position?
It’s not like he got promoted to GM.

He could still be the GM
But I think the Titans are hoping that the promotion will encourage him to stay. Per the A.P. story:
Dawson also followed Reinfeldt from Seattle, joining the Titans in 2007 as director of pro scouting. He became vice president of football operations last season. Whether this promotion keeps him around remains to be seen.
“Lake, he’s destined to be a GM here at some point,” Webster said. “We’re planning on him being around for a while.”

Reinfeldt pushed Fisher out of Nashville
He probably really wanted to protect Dawson.
Reinfeldt gave Dawson his first front office job in Seattle.
