Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd indicated a willingness to remain with the St. Louis Rams in 2012.

The St. Louis Rams might not lose Brandon Lloyd this offseason after all. In an appearance on 101 ESPN radio on Tuesday, Lloyd indicated a willingness to stick around in St. Louis, if he fits into the offensive scheme employed by Jeff Fisher and whoever he hires as an offensive coordinator. That's good news for the Rams.

Lloyd is schedule to be a free agent this year. He once spoke of following Josh McDaniels, but the Patriots may have other needs during the offseason, including re-signing Wes Welker.

What changed?

Star-divide

At the end of the season, Lloyd stated a preference to continue playing for Josh McDaniels, who resurrected his career with the Denver Broncos. He discussed those comments during the interview, softening his stance, and indicating a willingness to continue playing with Sam Bradford, so long as his skills would fit with the team's new direction.

That might depend on who they hire to be the offensive coordinator. The two leading candidates so far, Brian Scottenheimer and Hue Jackson, would seem to work well with what Lloyd has to offer. Both have a track record using deep threat receivers. Jackson was even able to breath life into Raiders wide receiver Darius Heyward-Bey, long considered a bust since being drafted in 2009. DHB tripled his career numbers under Jackson, catching 64 passes for 975 yards and four touchdowns.

If the Rams can keep Lloyd, it helps address their need at receiver, making them less desperate to reach in the draft or plunk down big dollars for a free agent.

Lloyd had 51 catches, 683 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games with the Rams, leading the team in all categories.

Lloyd, Danny Amendola, and Greg Salas could be a good starting point for the receivers. Adding a bigger, more consistent threat on the outside would complement that group nicely. The others on the roster, including Danario Alexander and Austin Pettis could fight for a spot on the depth chart.

Please do this...

Do it up!!

Brandon LLoyd (and McD) puts the "I / Me" in Team................

All I heard in his interview was, if they use me like this, McD used me like this, If I am gonna be the “I” factor I’m in….Everything was about HIMSELF (bye bye , follow your “Daddy” to New England)……..Let’s Get a VET who cares about the TEAM (not just Himself) …..then WE can start Celebrating about things to come….Lloyd is only the “I” in McD’s offense because he throws to him damn near every play. I could be the “I” in Team if you throw to me all the Damn Time……..And McD does not win, he gets “Lloyd” Stats , but Stats don’t win…….. Denver fans warned us, sure he’s good for Lloyd but not for the TEAM (or Wins)

Yeah we need to replace him with that unselfish FA from the Eagles ; )

I won’t speak for what happened in Denver but to put any blame on Lloyd for the offense sucking is beyond hysterical.

Also I wouldn’t want a WR that didn’t want the ball every play. The four pillars experiment failed.

Given the depleted WR corps of the Rams, I’d estatic if Lloyd was retained.

+1

Thank you.

God forbid we want a competent receiver who wants to catch the ball more often.

Good WR's

Come with attitude, the better they are the more egotistical. Just a personal view, it just seems that way to me.

Really?

Just like Calvin and Andre Johnson

God, this would be amazing
Stay Brandon...

… you will be getting 1000+ yards next season and 10+ TDs!

matt kalil in draft

And a receiver who is already top ten in the league instead of a talented rookie. Makes too much sense two holes plugged. Rest of the draft and free agency to shore up db dt olb. Let’s git it did!

I definately want the Rams to get Kalil.

Some pundits say he’s the best thing since sliced bread, er, I mean, since Orland Pace and to me that’s saying a lot.

Now I’m all in favor of going after a great OT instead of going after a so-so, not the greatest WR in the draft but I would also like to see the Rams trade down th get some extra draft picks to plug some holes.

BUT my question is just how far down must we drop in order to do that? Now to my way of thinking, Minnesota, Cleveland and Washington all need RG III for their franchise QB so I think they may all be in the bidding war for RG III but if we trade with one of those three teams will that mean we will lose Kalil to on of the teams that will then be ahead of us in the draft?

Please, someone, give me some input on this. I want to hear other opinions.

Go Rams!

Vikings don't want to draft a QB

If we trade down with the Browns to the 4th spot, then I think Vikings will go ahead and pick Kalil.

But then again, I don’t think the Vikings have much depth at WR. Other than Percy Harvin, I can’t think of any other good WRs on that offense. Maybe Berian too?

Vikings won't draft RG3

They’ve committed to Ponder….the perfect scenario would be the Vikings take the corner from LSU or Blackmon, and leave us Kalil at #4….I think the only way we can get Kalil is staying put at #2…….I’m not sure about trading to anybody other than Cleveland, if we go too far down in the top 10….we won’t get Blackmon or Kalil.

Okay, thanks guys.
I'm hoping

That Danario shakes that knee off and be that other receiver on the other side of Lloyd.

his knee was healthy this year

Besides receivers get a three year rule in this league.most breakout around year three.i give en one last chance

Danario and Gibson should be gone

DJax on the other side of Lloyd sounds good..

No to DJax ...

… actually, not ‘no’, but HELL NO

I'm with you. I want no part of any player who doesn't give his all on the field.

He basically crapped on his Eagles teammates. What makes anyone think he won’t do the same thing to the Rams if he wakes up one day and decides he wants more money?
I’m all for loosening the 4 pillars stand a bit, but there has to be a line we don’t cross. Jackson showed he is not only self-serving and petulant, but also an idiot. When he trotted down the field on routes and sulked on the sidelines, he ruined his value to another team, let alone the team he is on now.

come on Stewie

Think BIG!

Lloyd
Vincent Jax
Blackmon
Danny A.
Salas
Mark Clayton or DX whomever gets a “get out of ER” card
Final spot to be won in camp

I have no problem with Vincent Jackson. DeSean Jackson is another story all together - No thanks

The one knock I’ve found on Vincent is he has problems against top CBs, but don’t most WRs?
Clayton and DX won’t be there, as much as I like both. It’s time for DX to look at a different line of work before he’s relegated to a wheel chair. I think Pettis will be given another chance based on Fisher being the type of coach that is willing to give players the ability to prove themselves capable of getting passed screw ups. I’d personally show Pettis the door since he won’t be a player we may need for the entire schedule and the money he’s being paid could be used elsewhere.
Outside of Blackmon, you don’t really leave much room for draft or FA additions a WR? I’d love to see Reggie Wayne a Ram if the price isn’t too high?

I think your forgetting something

Pettis isn’t getting paid much because if th rookie pay scale. He has 2 more years of small money so i say play it out if he deserves the spot…i hate that whole PED thing at the end of the year but if he is still on the team by FA then there is no point to cut him loose one year before his contract is up just to pay him for nothing

Lloyd, V Jax, and Blackmon would be a scary combo

though I don’t see it happening

DJax is a playmaker, period

Would love for him to be on this team..

DJax doesn't come to play every week

I don’t want no part of him. He is a playmaker every third or fourth week. Waist of talent dat boy.

This is the first year thats happened

And he felt under appropriated, and you saw how much of an impact it had on the eagles. I’d take him for his abilities, take you “good boys”..

We took Donnie

After Donnie Avery was picked (first wr in 2008 picked) then went Jordy Nelson, Simpson DeSean Jackson. Some others, can’t find my cheat sheet. I just question his heart. When he signs, its gonna be for huge bucks. What will he have to play for. Its a tough game. Is he a gamer every week? and i do question your point of “it was only this year” I think that is very debatable.

Yea and avery was a mistake

As for his heart, he got cheated out of money that he deserved and watch top names come in and make more. No other person in the NFL whether it be Forte saw this happen. It proved this hear he was their top playmaker. And how is it debatable?

ok stewie

I hope I’m wrong and I love to watch him break down defenses. He helped me win a championship two years ago.

Yea only problem is how much he will demand..
Randy Moss anybody???
Wasn't D Jax playing for league minimum?

I’d be pissed too if my team paid all these guys big $ to come in and didn’t pay the top offensive playmaker(D Jax) shit. He felt unappreciated and for good reason. Pay the man and we get results.

If we're going after a high-profile wr

Bowe is the way to go. Not sure if he’ll leave KC though…

DJax

Has more talent then all that are coming out in FA. He has #1 wt ability and has punt return ability, more valuable than them all..

Bowe is the better receiver.

Don’t care about anything else…

Still take DJax for his value..
I liked Randy Moss

But his last two years i would have rather had any other player than him. But i pet his ability would still make him a #1 to this date. If he came out of retirement would u take him too?

I don't see Bowe going anywhere

Dey love their Bowe in KC. He staying. I’d rather have him then Djax. He comes to play every week.

This line really sums up what we need in the draft.

Lloyd had 51 catches, 683 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games with the Rams, leading the team in all categories.

And he came into the offense in week 6…

I guess our O-Line and the fact every WR got hurt had nothing to do with that though right?
It somes it

But im still going with Danario if we try and grab DJax that’s alot of money when already have a deep threat.

I wood give danario over last shot
Now I want AJ Jenkins

I think he could be a good #2 receiver.

Could be
I like it

had a strong beginning of the season (as did the whole team) then slowed down a bit in the end (as did the whole team).

LOVE THIS!

but still a big decision to be made….

Hoping we

Sign lloyd back.

this would make a lot of sense

expecialy if they cut jason smith and save 9 million dollars in doing so

like I said on another post

Resign Lloyd, pick up V. Jackson if chargers doesn’t place tag on him, ( which I read they don’t plan on putting tag on him this year.) Then draft Kalil or trade pick if they are given a good enough offer. Don’t know if money wish it’s possible, but if they cut Smith that’s 9 million a year freed up. Those two recievers with the others returning plus Kalil being the LT would be great. Then they could hit the defense with next rounds. Possible don’t know , maybe just a longtime Rams fan wishful thinking !

I agree whole-heartedly with keeping Lloyd on the team if at all possible.

However, I’m wondering about Mark Clayton…what’s his status now? I know he presents an injury-proned profile but he clicked with Bradford and was really good when he was healthy.

Go Rams!

I think it's time we part with the likes of Clayton and DX

and especially Gibson.

That was my Xmas wish 7
Clayton had a setback returning mid season

Which is why he went back on IR… He should be ready before training camp but if he gets cut loose i wouldnt disagree because his age doesnt really help his recovery time. And i LOVE DX. He is tall with sure hands and great route running… His legs keep him from getting big money so he is a very cheap red zone threat example being week 2 against giants

I have to agree with Valley Ram.

I also like DX. I watched him play every year at Mizzou. In 2009 when he was a senior he had 14 touchdowns and 113 receptions for 1,781 yards which made him one of the top NCAA Wide Receivers that year. He averaged 15.8 yards per reception and 137 yards per game. He also had 14 touchdowns his senior year and earned the 2009 Sports Illustrated first team All American.

To me that’s a pretty good WR. The only reason that stopped him from becoming a 1st round draft choice was his injuries. Otherwise I feel he would have been a top 15 pick.

Go Rams!

im definately a hell no for djax
Hows Lloyd, Blackmon, and Ameondola sound?
Like A Great Song!
No, no.

Band name!

Brandon

I hope Brandon stays on in St.Louis he is a great asset to the team and a class act himself.

Best news I've heard all day.

Even though I would much rather have Blackmon, imagine if we drafted Floyd and then had Lloyd and Floyd as the starting tandem. The thought of it has me chuckling to myself uncontrollably.

LOL

Seriously though, Floyd would be great as long as he isn’t too high up in the draft…

Since they're both "receivers, we could nickname them the "Royds"!... er, uh...Never mind... :-)
After watching Fisher interview

Seems like its the Oline and Dline that will be taken care of first. I just hope most of that is done before the draft. Someone send Rand McNallys to the starting Tenn Titans linemen.

Colston/ trade the pick

He is free agent, his knees are fine. Big physical DEEP THREAT is what they need . That would do wonders for Amendola Salas in who ever. Kalil is not worth 2nd overall. Would love to see them trade down but ensure they have a choice that includes Floyd and Decastro. Also the best middle line backer would be nice . Then you can move Laurinatis to the weak side better fit . His pass coverage and speed along side big hitter in the middle would be kick ass. Colston, Amendola[ Floyd or Jeffery ] if you trade the pick thats a WR core. 2nd rd MLB or O LINE. Loyld is ok but they need track speed anyone see( V.DAVIS 4.3) all the Ram wr run a 4.5 @ best.

Lloyd's way better than Colston

He hasn’t had Brees throwing to him… Speed is overrated, the best receiver in the league in my opinion is Larry Fitzgerald, who is not that fast, he has great hands though. Lloyd remind me of him just a bit. Would much rather have him…

Deep Threat

haven’t really seen much of bradford going deep. could be the OC plays, or the fact we didn’t have many wr who could pull it in. I think bradford is a 3-7 yard thrower. Fisher is a 3-7 yard guy. make third downs manageable. I would like to see Bradford in the shotgun 95%. then he would have time to throw deep.

How could Bradford go deep with the line we had?

By the end of the season Dahl was our only starter playing on our O-Line.

Khalil not worth 2nd pick?

Go back and do your homework before making a comment like that..Khalil is being compared to Long and Thomas. I do agree on Colston though.

No way

Lloyd has nothing on Colston Colston look @ his yac stats Lloyd goes down after every catch. Speed is not over rated rember Torry Smith he still running past the secondary. Larry. F is big & phyical at the line and runs great routes . Speed kills Lloyd is a great #2 they need a guy who commands dbl coverage. Thats what speed does @ worst watch a game when DX comes in you will see diff in coverage and he is not a estabished wr.

Lloyd was the #1 receiver in the entire NFL two years ago...

and our offense isn’t comparable to the Saints, so I’m not sure it’s worth likening to the two players statistics from last season. Fitz is GREAT, and DX is GARBAGE

First of all, Torrey Smith is not a great receiver, though we did our best to prove otherwise...

Colston runs a 4.5
Lloyd a 4.61

That’s not that much of a difference. Colston isn’t even a speed guy. I mean, what are you talking about man?

Did you ever watch the GSOT play?

The only reason bruce/holt wouldnt go down is if they were wide open. No offence to them but thats the smartest way to play. Thats why recievers play very long careers. As far as i remember thats how jerry rice played as well…just saying

Hay

I think DX deseves another shot the guys got crazy skills n the knee held up look what he dne vs new york giants a few clean ups n we could have had that one .. look all I’m saying is having a 6’4 wr who’s show great potial isn’t gana hurt my feelings none

Then we draft Alshon Jeffery

DX needs to be looking for another sideline to watch games from

+1

He’s way too inconsistent and if he stays he shouldn’t start..

Take it from a guy who's watched a couple SC games

He has fantastic hands! Not crazy fast, but very good. And he had NO QB throwing to him. He’d be a great pick, and we could still get him if we trade down…

Yup

If he’s the worst we do in the draft, along with DA, Lloyd, Salas, Pettis, and Kendricks, then we’ll be better for it. That, plus we’re gonna score a FA WR this offseason

I remember when we says that about robinson

Then he broke out

Laurent?

Dude’s still a bum from my perspective… I’m not totally selling DX, but if we can replace him I don’t care if he goes…

yea I think his production was a fluke too lol

I like something about dx and I’m not a mizzou fan. I would give em one more year to prove he hasn’t reached his ceiling and I think fisher could mold him

I definitely like his potential

I’d keep him over Pettis for sure.

Me too. When I look at his first two years (keep in mind that I am NOT comparing the two players.. Just stats)

Roddy was a “bust” in his first two years putting up similar and worst numbers then dx. I remember falcons fans getting impatient with him. What us rams fans ignore is that most wide receivers take time to develop more than any other position. If dx cant stay healthy or give us 800 yards next season. I agree to boot him. But ppl sayin he’s “incomsistemt” or hasnt made an impact in the league yet… Well duh the dude was in his second season!

Robison had 5 knee surgeries?
when was the last time you heard about dx's knee?
He shouldnt start..
I agree

He needs one more year.must pplforget that wide recievers usually take 3 years to break out. Dx is gold imo

Looking at DX's stats

2 seasons
18 games 46 receptions 767 yards 16 average yards a catch
Of those 46 receptions 31 went for 1st downs…there is no question when he plays, he makes an impact

Exactly. most UPSIDE on this team

And he needs one more year to evaluate. Love that his knee didn’t bother em this year

Yea he played in 12 games this year

And in all honestly untill we get REALY good WR he is the best thing we can have on this team even with his injurys. If he plays 10 plays a game he will have 3 receptions and his average says 2 of them will be 1st down. The other 7 plays require special attention on him which draws our other recievers open. Not to mention he is a cheap option with BIG upside… Only down side is a roster spot but if he gets hurt, to the IR he goes to fix that roster spot problem. And in case anybody is womdering, he was an undrafted FA so the rams got him at nothing more than contract price

Also

Last hear DX signed a four year 1.85 million $ contract so 490k next year and 575k in 2013…thats pretty cheap even if he has does repeat the same production

He has the chance to bea really good receiver

This next year will be big for him

Stay Brandon.

It doesn’t get any better than this for you.

Lloyd would have had a 1000 yard season with us if with us a whole season(minus the injuries on offense). This plus Desean/Vincent Jackson and we have a big threat on game day.

Of course he is saying that

Because Welker is gonna be what Lloyd was in Mc D’s offense and he isn’t gonna be as included in it especill with the Gonk-nandez TE duo…..Lloyd will suffer the Ouchocinco role of the offense….LOL he realized that and now is like “Oh shit!!!”….We can get him back all Fisher and the new OC has to do is tell Lloyd “listen we are gonna run a balanced Attack and while we plan to spread the ball around you are gonna be the #1 WR option” then Boom re-signed for a multi yr deal.

"boom" just like that huh?
