The St. Louis Rams will pay Jeff Fisher $35 million for a five-year contract, making him one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL. Is it worth it?

There was never any doubt that Jeff Fisher would be one of the highest paid head coaches in the NFL when he returned to the sidelines in 2012. Now, it looks like we have the numbers to confirm that. According to the Post-Dispatch, Fisher agreed to a five-year, $35 million deal with the team.

Fisher will be introduced at a 1 p.m. Central press conference. We'll be covering it live here and on Twitter @TurfShowTimes.

He could have made more money...

Star-divide

Fisher would have certainly earned more in Miami, the other finalist in the Fisher sweepstakes. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross reportedly said that he would not be outbid for Fisher, and some whispers had Fisher making $8 million per season in South Beach.

$8 million would have made Fisher the highest paid coach in the NFL. Patriots coach Bill Belichick retains that title with his $7.5 million annual salary. He also has three Super Bowl titles. Mike Shanahan and Pete Carroll make approximately $7 million per season.

Fisher was set to make $6.5 million in 2011 with the Titans before he and the team parted ways with an $8 million buyout.

Changing coaches was an expensive ordeal for the Rams. They ate the $2 million remaining on the final year of Steve Spagnuolo's contract as well as the cost of Billy Devaney's final year. The team did not have to pay for Josh McDaniels' final contract year since he left to take another job.

That's the cost of building a winner, and Fisher brings the prospects for long-term stability to the Rams, something so desperately needed.

that's fine with me
I second that.
Sounds good.

Especially with the coordinator moves already made and the interviews going on. If we get Jackson send him even more money :)

Sounds good, now get us Hue!
Hopefully he's worth every penny

It doesn’t effect the cap, and he’s a billionaire so who cares.

As long as it doesn't take away from FA signing, I don't care.

This bastard better do something with this team. Or I’m gonna shove all that money up his ass all at once. I will not be on team stache until he proves himself with wins or at least a competitive team.

Seven million seems to high to me

Even though he’s experienced as he is, it’s $7 million for Christ’s sake. I hope this doesn’t affect spending on the team. Maybe I’m being too neurotic

Well...I'm glad your team choose Fisher.

So my team doesn’t have to choose him….Not sure why this popularity with him. Zero SB ring, few playoff wins….
