The NFL playoffs continue today. In the first game, the Baltimore Ravens host the Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional round. The St. Louis Rams played the Ravens this season in Week 4, getting thoroughly pounded in a game that featured rookie wide receiver Torrey Smith getting behind the Rams secondary three times for a touchdown.
Of course, the Rams didn't have a cornerback like Johanthan Joseph, who might have been the best free agent pick up in the NFL last season. Obviosuly, the Baltimore defense had little trouble with the Rams offense.
If you like defense, this is the game for you ... now watch both teams rack up 30 points each. Houston's defense has been the best kept secret in the NFL, while Baltimore's has been exactly what you expected it to be.
There were rumors today that a Super Bowl win could be enough for living legend Ray Lewis to call it a career. We'll see.
Enjoy the game.

What you need is a raw oyster, Feta cheese and Brussel sprout sandwich! Pick you right up! :-)
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
The only thing I have of that is a sandwich
My buddy came over last night and we played my PS3/Xbox till like 2, while getting hammered (got pretty loud and woke/pissed my gf off).
Btw, I now have the PS network if anyone wants to madden or MLB…I’ll get more games soon

A hangover AND a pissed off GF? You're in a special kind of Hell aren't you? lol

She's actually not mad
And I’m not hungover, moving my status to “still drunk”

Ray Rice is a beast

Yates and Flacco isn't exactly Brady - Rodgers

The Saturday FF totals are up in the Fantasy Football post if anyone is curious
Alex Smith and Brady had huuuuuge days!

Just wanted to stop by and ask
Do you guys think Brian Schottenheimer is going to get hired? Because trust me, you don’t want him.
Bob_The_Friendly_Baker - January 15, 2012
Any insight you could add to that observation?
Why did the Jets O fall off so much this season?
Was there a personality conflict with Sanchez?
Is Schott a good mgr of his position coaches?
At what point did Jets fans decide he was a bad OC and why?
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
We fell off because of a few reasons
Less talent at the receiver position, bad line play and hoping Sanchez would be able make up for some of these deficiencies which he obviously wasn’t ready for.
Schotty and Sanchez got along well enough, Schotty did handpick him as the QB he wanted.
He manages his position coaches will enough also.
We didn’t really mind him his first two years, the calls for his head started these last three years. First of all just look at his track record, he has accomplished nothing in his career. He didn’t utilize our TEs enough, never attacked opponents weaknesses and constantly went away from what was working. His play calling is predictable, and he always just gets too cute with his calls sometimes. The offensive woes weren’t always his fault, but he never tried to adjust to the problems. Sanchez was pretty bad this year, but so why did he call 67 pass plays in a game?
Isn’t Fisher a run first guy? Schotty is the opposite
Bob_The_Friendly_Baker - January 15, 2012
How short is the leash on Sanchez as the Jets QB? Could the Jets make a run at RGIII?
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
It's definitely a lot shorter now
I don’t think will make move at RGIII unless he slips a lot. Wouldn’t be surprised if we sign a QB to compete with him though. I’d say he’s back next season in what will be his make or break season.
Bob_The_Friendly_Baker - January 15, 2012
In some of the threads at the Jets site, I've read that there are some that want to trade for Peyton Manning?
I think Matt Flynn may be the hot FA QB commodity in 2012.
I’ve started to look at Sanchez the way I look at Romo: Lots of skill, but are handicapped by “choke” DNA.
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
Doubt Manning comes to the Jets
I don’t think he would want to come to us, and judging by the way we are overhauling the offensive coaching staff I’d say were sticking with Sanchez for now.
I wouldn’t say Sanchez is a choker he’s led plenty of 4th Quarter comebacks and was at his best in the playoffs. He just couldn’t do any of that this season though.
Bob_The_Friendly_Baker - January 15, 2012
Do you have a 5 round Mock for the Jets for 2012?
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
I don't know enough prospects to go 5 rounds but I'll give you three
1st – Courtney Upshaw OLB
2nd – Nate Potter OT
3rd- Winston Guy JR S
Bob_The_Friendly_Baker - January 15, 2012
Upshaw is going to be a star. We need a great hybrid DE/OLB too, but our OL and WR will get most of our draft picks in 2012
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
If we wre to sign back Lloyd or get a Wayne
I’d like to trade back, get Upshaw, an OT or DT in the 2nd, and Stephen Hill in the 3rd. Add the other one of what we don’t get in the 2nd in FA

Foster has to be one of the best UFDAs of all time
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
Oh yeah
sergey606 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Foster is the first RB to crack 100 yards on the Ravens D in 16 playoff games.
And the Saints traded up for Ingram.
FailureDrill - January 15, 2012 via Android app
One of the guys over at Gang Green Nation just cracked me up. He observed how much the new Jacksonville Jaguars owner looks like a "High society" version of Ron Jeremy
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
The thing that makes Foster so good
isn’t physical talent – it’s mental acuity. He runs smarter than 99% of running backs.
3k - January 15, 2012
Who's the 1%?

Peyton Hillis. Chris Johnson.

Will Cleveland keep Hillis or let him go FA?
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
I'm guessin he's gone
Montario Hardesty is their man
DCRamFan - January 15, 2012
They plan to let him go
I actually think I’d like him as SJax’s backup. If he only has to get a few carries a game he should stay healthy, and him as a follow up to getting hit by SJax sounds like it would kill LB’s to me
King Sam Rules! - January 15, 2012 via mobile
I'd like to see a change of pace back, rather than just more power
we’ve already got that. I might just be saying that because I’m watching Ray Rice, though
DCRamFan - January 15, 2012
Not a lot of change of pace backs available
And SJax and a healthy Hillis is two pro bowl rb’s
King Sam Rules! - January 15, 2012 via mobile
I agree that Hillis is a stud
I just doubt he comes cheap. I’d like to put our money elsewhere
DCRamFan - January 15, 2012
Flacco looks terrible. If Balt gets by Hou, I don't think he has what it takes to get the Ravens to the SB
Douglas M - January 15, 2012
Not if Cam Cameron continues to force Flacco to throw the whole game and ignore Rice
King Sam Rules! - January 15, 2012 via mobile

Yates
Epic Fail
4admen - January 15, 2012
To bad for Foster
howie43 - January 15, 2012
Yup
He was a beast against the Bmore D
4admen - January 15, 2012
For a 5th round rookie/3rd string QB
TJ Yates did a hell of a job this year
3k - January 15, 2012
Agree
But most of deep balls were nearly picked off by Reed. And the last one was. After seeing the pattern, he should’ve known better. Or Kubiak should’ve called a diff play, especially w/ almost 2mins left in the game
4admen - January 15, 2012
More fireworks at the end of this one too?
Can Yates etch his name into the granite slate of postseason heroes? Does Arian Foster have one last burst? Will Ray Lewis stab someone? STAY TUNED.
FailureDrill - January 15, 2012
Foster is the third best rb in the nfl imo
Behind AD and C Johnson..

Reed being carried off field
There goes anyone but the Pats winning the AFC
King Sam Rules! - January 15, 2012 via mobile
He looks like he's in a pretty substantial deal of pain.
Looked ugly, too. Interesting to see how that will play out.
FailureDrill - January 15, 2012
As a semi-Steeler fan, I don't say this lightly
but I would not mind seeing the Ravens win the Super Bowl for both Ray Lewis’ and Ed Reed’s sake. Truly two of my favorite players of all time. First ballet HoFers.
Joe Mazzi - January 15, 2012

I hate the ravens
Ram_Redemption - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Ravens fans are funny.
I swear I know more who are from the Pittsburgh/Western PA area. In fact, I’m not sure that I know a single one who is actually from Maryland.
Joe Mazzi - January 15, 2012
I went to a Ravens/Steelers game a couple years ago
the Steelers won late on a Santonio Holmes TD. The Ravens faithful werent happy, to say the least. Terrible towels on fire everywhere.
I think it’s weird that there are Ravens fans in PA…….we’ve got a ton of Steeler fans in DC. From my understanding, a lot of PA families moved here when the steel industry went down? Either way, I’m surprised to hear you say that. Seems faux pas
