4 months ago: TEMPE, AZ - FILE: Head Coach Jeff Fisher of the Tennessee Titans on the sidelines against the Arizona Cardinals during the second quarter at Sun Devil Stadium on October 23, 2005 in Tempe, Arizona. According to reports on January 13, 2012 Fisher will be the head coach of the St. Louis Rams. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)
Jeff Fisher decided to become the next head coach of the St. Louis Rams today. He also broke his media silence, at least media silence in his direct contact with the press as opposed to leaking info via sources. He spoke highly of the team he'll lead this season in an interview with the Post-Dispatch.
I'm really excited that the Rams are the best fit for me. I hope I'm the best fit for the Rams, and am looking forward to finalizing the (contract) details and coming to work.
Fisher actually reached his decision on Thursday, letting Rams owner Stan Kroenke know then. It's a remarkable testament to the Rams' ability to keep the pipework at Rams Park and elsewhere leak free.
Fisher that the deliberation period gave him time to explore the "non-economic factors" of each destination, which you can interpret to include how much control he would have, the state of each franchise, etc.
The Rams have yet to make an official statement, which should be coming shortly. A press conference introducing Fisher should follow sometime thereafter. Jim Thomas also notes in his story that the Rams brass were in route to San Francisco for an interview with Saints running game coach Aaron Kromer.
News of Fisher's decision came from Miami sources. The Dolphins told Fisher that they needed his decision by Friday.

I think it shows he's being careful, which to me is a good sign that he really feels the Rams are a team he can do something with in the long term

I have been visiting Miami's site and...
all I keep seeing is “phew!” and “yes, now we can find a real coach” from all the fans. The same fans that were all about Fisher 2 days ago when it looked like he was going to Miami. Guess we would have been doing the same thing, but kinda funny.
jpcisco - January 13, 2012
it'd be worse here...
more like “fuck fisher hes ld and used up anyway”
and plenty of “I never wanted him anyway”

Welcome to the ways of the Internet.
DuhhhRams! - January 13, 2012
I was on there site too, but I saw it the exact opposite.
There are some very disappointed Fins fans there. Its almost like they found out they’re wife was cheating on them. They’re sad, disappointed, an pissed off at the same time. Plan ‘B’ not so exciting when you know you really have to take it serious now.

Fail
Drunk fail at that too. Need to learn how to post to this damn site.

Glad to see Stl making a splash already this offseason and grabbing the best coach on the market..
it tells me Stan is serious about building a contender and also makes me believe that the Rams will be in Stl for awhile.
Schefter:
One source said Wed. it was “80-20” Jeff Fisher would choose Miami over St. Louis. Dolphins; but Fisher could not agree to structure or org.
jpcisco - January 13, 2012
I'm just glad to see he's willing to spend the money on the Rams despite his investments in so many other teams.
DuhhhRams! - January 13, 2012
Which...
I assume that is from motherfucking up to the minute updates.
RamSarge - January 13, 2012
Thank goodness that's over
So that we can start the week and a half long battle for our GM with another team
DCRamFan - January 13, 2012

Has any of his staff been made or known to the public.

Smile everytime I see it...
Fisher CHOOSES Rams over Dolphins. Guess he likes what he saw in Stl.
jpcisco - January 13, 2012
Oops, should have capitalized OVER not chooses.
jpcisco - January 13, 2012
Or
Option27 - January 13, 2012
That is exactly what I was thinking of when he wrote that.
Deep down in my heart of hearts, I like to believe Fisher faxed this to Kroenke’s office as his announcement.
FailureDrill - January 13, 2012
Looks like I missed out on the initial breaking of the news but this is cool.
Glad we have this all worked out an have hired a HC.
RAMpage28 - January 13, 2012
YES
Feeling good about the Rams for change. Just hope its a semi quick turn around. With full control I pray he goes after Courtland.F if Fletcher & Bartell both come back that would nice with Bartell @ the nickle. I’ll take Hanesworth too if he gets cut. Part 1 of the wish is here a proven coach. Now on to # 2 trade the pick stay in the top 10 roll the dice if Blackmon is not there Jeffery or Floyd will do. # 3 LT or interior linemen OFF or DEF. And while im wishing a mic backer and move dbl nickle to will backer . That move sounds crazy but it’s for the best his cover skills are unmatched . He is a sure tackler but a thumper is what we need. Its probaly gonna happen now that have a ture HC.
SHAWN .B - January 13, 2012
finnegin AND haynesworth?
dude! the rams want to move “foward” and WIN! not backwards! fuck those guys! i dont want that filth on my team.
Mark Jaramillo - January 13, 2012
I bet when Haynesworth blows through that $100 mil
he starts to perform again. What a waste…..
DCRamFan - January 13, 2012
by then he would be even MORE of a waste!
Mark Jaramillo - January 13, 2012
WOW deciding yesterday and waiting a day...
to inform the other club just to stick it to them for being impatient and demanding a decision by Friday, now that’s cold. Funny thing is I seem to remember reading somewhere that that’s what the Rams should have done yesterday.
Sggladden - January 13, 2012 via mobile
finnegin
He is an all pro cb, which the Rams havent had sense T.Light . Fat Albert played his best under Fish. The team needs attiude which they dont have. Albert contract is not much at all @ this point most his $ was up front. So he didnt fit in cut him Courtland is a better then any CB the rams have had in yrs. Throw that 4 pillars shit out get ballers in here a few head cases are welcome if they have talent. But im sure some of you think C.Daul .Popinga & them other bums are good cause they are nice people…..
SHAWN .B - January 13, 2012
We can
Do with out courtland and albert. I think it’s more CBs out there then courtland and Albert.
