NFL Rumors: Rams Have No Plans To Draft A QB

Despite all the crazy talk and the very logical push back, the rumor mill refuses to kill off talk of the St. Louis Rams possibly drafting a quarterback with either the first or second pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and trading Sam Bradford. Thank God for the 24-hour news cycle, no? Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network reported Sunday morning that the Rams have told Bradford's representatives that they have no plans to draft a quarterback.

Of course, the people in the St. Louis Rams front office telling Bradford's representatives that could be out next week. A new front office means changes, though it still seems unlikely that the team, regardless of who's running it, would pull the trigger on such a deal. Nevertheless, it's always good to have that bluff card in hand come draft time.

Speaking of Bradford, as has been noted before, his presence in St. Louis makes it an attractive destination for head coaching candidates. Albert Breer of the NFL Network reported Sunday morning that Jeff Fisher is ready to return to coaching and his main criteria is having an established franchise quarterback in place.

Until we have the supporting parts in play

what’s the point of drafting yet another “franchise QB” and then destroying his health, self-confidence and reputation. We already did that once which was my biggest fear in drafting Bradford in the first place. We weren’t ready for a franchise QB yet.

Now that ownership is settled, we need to get coaching and the front office determined and get a line together and some kind of offense that works with the players we have (and can add). At that point, maybe Sam won’t look so bad.

There’s no quick fix here or short cuts by gettting yet another quarterback with nobody to support him.

And, uh, Happy New Year!
how can they make a comment like that when the new gm and coach havent been selected yet so i will wait until that happens and see what direction we wanna go in.
What part about Bradford's salary doesn't make sense?

We literally cannot afford to ditch Sam. Also, whoever the new coach and GM are, they still have people to report to. That’s where this info comes from.

we can always trade him to the redskins they were in luv wit him when he came out. sam has pissed me off he needs to be a better leader and stay off the dam injury report
I assure you

they’re not in love with his contract. No way they take it, especially when Luck or RGIII can be had for a fraction of what we have to pay Sam.

we are talking about dan snyder money is no object with him and no one is in luv with that contract buddy.
Salary cap.
You make me laugh man, love this place xD
oh yeah go colts!
and niners :-(

That’s the only way it works. If we’re tied in wins – Colts get #1.

Colts lost

So we’re #2.

Trade Luck for a boat load of picks!!!

And just what Rams told Lombardi this the Rams that wont be around next year hahaha give me a brake please

That post, other than what you copied and pasted in the subject line,

is a bonafide fucking head scratcher.

seriously?

the people probably getting fired, coaches and GM. but there are plenty other people at rams park including vp of football operations, etc that will probably be here next year that can make such statements.

Well of course not

why even bring it up. Just like a good owner would retain Spags and Co for 1 more year.
With a good draft St. Louis as Dahl said earlier in a make shift Free agency is " Going places". Just replace a couple Guys on O- Line add a Speeedy reciever and a Great D-lineman and Super Bowl here we go again.

logic

Wouldn’t it be logical for the Rams to hire Jeff and then build a team around the QB, instead of keeping a coach that can’t or won’t make his players earn their salary? Bradford spends more time on the turf because he don’t get the protection he needs, and the Defense could be scored on by some Pop Warner teams. At OU Bradford excelled because they were a complete team, I would love to see the Rams rework their front line and defense.

we should draft a qb -----sam sucked just like the rest
forget about fischer ---he' going to miami
