The St. Louis Rams have taken a break for the Memorial Day holiday weekend...and the lockout, which is like one big long rainy holiday weekend. At this week's informal player-led practices, a few players were able to make an impression based on reports trickling out of the sessions, including some of the Rams 2011 draft picks.
From a fan's perspective, denying the players' team organized workouts has also denied us the opportunity to better get to know the Rams new draft picks. Turf Show Times will be talking to a few of those picks in the coming days. For now, I thought it might be a good opportunity to talk about a few of the Rams most recent draft picks, since 2008, to get a better sense of the fan favorites.
Admittedly the list below is incomplete. And it's almost unfair to put a franchise QB like Sam Bradford on the list. Of course he's a favorite draft pick, look at what he's done already. We'll refine this further after today's vote.

jl is an intense player! i just love how he gets in all his teamates ears, that right there is a true sign of a leader. the juries still out, and jl is still young, but i trully believe he will be the next brian urlacher/ray lewis!

Honestly, Donnie Avery is still my favorite
I remain adamant that he was a good pick. Obviously, he hasn’t had the best impact, but I still believe he’ll be a good one for us for years to come.

Sam was the most important…but favorite to me will be Fletcher he’s the diamond in the rust and I like those stories….

but I went with JL, cause he was a 2nd rounder and I wanted that Maluaga or whatever his name was, and the FO totally proved me wrong.

I’ll always remember crumbling in my friend’s apartment when I saw us pass on Maualuga, been eating crow ever since :)
Wish Jerome Murphy was on this list though. He plays exactly how I’d want my corners to play: a little reckless, at high speed, hard hitting in run support, and feisty. If we let him go I can see him having a successful career as a starter, or if Bartell (another favorite pick) goes down I’d love to see Murphy step in this year and blossom.

Sam Bradford and it isn't even close
The St.Louis Rams have waited something like 30-40 years for a 1st round draft pick that was a QB, and I would bet in their entire history they have never drafted a QB #1 overall. Bradford is the most important player on the team and easily has the bightest future. Bradford could seriously change the landscape of St.Louis sports for ever and has the appeal and potential to be the next Stan Musial in terms of fan acknowledgement, respect and love. It’s no wonder he’s winning this poll by a land slide.

I went with Fletcher
Because he was a 3rd round draft pick which makes it even more impressive. He has a chance to be a shut down corner and he is a good tackler in run support. Great pick!
I also think Hoomanawanui could end up being on the list if he can stay healthy and is used more often.
Bradford was a great pick but really couldn’t go wrong. Suh would have also been a great pick.

Obviously Sam is the most important draft choice in St. Louis Rams history but I went with Fletcher because he is becoming one of the best 10 corners in the NFL and was only a third round choice. If Hoomanawanui’s ankles hold up he will be close because of draft value.

Suh would’ve been a terrible pick cause he’s not SAM.
But I also like Fletcher a lot. Even though he’s dust in the wind compared to SAM.

I mean the obvious pick really is Bradford, but honestly any other pick in that situation would have been the most bone-headed move any front office could possibly make in the history of anything ever. James, for where he was drafted (and the overwhelming want for Maulauga), has emerged as that fire-breathing, intelligent, defense-leading MLB we were sorely missing for such a long time.

the two Qbs will no doubt be most popular and its hard to argue against voting for Sam.
He is the symbol of our bright future.
If those 2 weren’t there I’d go for Fletcher. Demonstrated shutdown potential last year according to PFF and rebounded excellently from a horrible injury.

You can tell that the defence is in good hands with Animal Jr. He is slowiy becoming the Enforcer for the defence. He was one of the reasons that we climed out nof the cellar.
