St. Louis Rams vs Seattle Seahawks
Week 12, November 29, 2009
Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, MO
I get these threads set up ahead of time. As of now, Steven Jackson's status is up in the air, and that's not going to make sleeping easy. Well, ok, it won't be that hard, the 2009 Rams haven't been anything to lose sleep over. Still, this is one of our most winnable games remaining on the schedule. Kyle Boller, Brandon Gibson, Donnie Avery...these guys have to really step it up today. The rest of the supporting cast too. No excuses. No looking for flags. (we'll update on SJ's status).
The last time these two teams met things were a little different. Seattle had all of their players for one thing. Now, both teams are limping along, planning next season while the current one plays out.
There's still no reason the Rams can't win this game. As usual, they can't put themselves in deep holes with penalties and overly conservative play calling. It's a battle for pride, and those can sometimes be the best kind.
GO RAMS!!!
Update: Jackson will start today...whew.

Jackson is starting.

Let's get it on
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
S-JAX!
I didn’t have a doubt in my mind. He smells a potential win if we can keep it out of Kyle’s hands. :D
Go Rams! I don’t care how bad our season has been, we’re improving, and beating these a-holes would totally make my day/year! GO RAMS!!!
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Our coach left his balz at home today...
It’s deja vu all over again from the 1st game.

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
yea.. he's been bad this year
very surprised at this
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
He was Mr. Clutch for the Seahawks
beat us twice with 0:00 left a couple times as I recall
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Shh...
…as I recall, one of our only wins last year was because of his leg.
I’m scratching my head at this season however…to be fair, he hasn’t had many looks.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
any streams up and working??

We are in such BAD need of a DT
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Our DL makes almost every back look like a HOF
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Been Sayin That All Year
JordansDad - November 29, 2009
Exactly...
…ugh…
Suh please? I’ll settle for (Gerald) McCoy.
A DE would be welcome as well, even though Leonard has played admirably. We also need an OLB.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
SUH - SUH - SUH - SUH
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Those Suh chants are going to get loud pretty soon.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
QB in second
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
DE / OLB third
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
To all those who want a QB in the first round
remember that last drive
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
I can't take much more of that
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Neither can I...
…it’s unfair to JL that he’s being blocked off the ball on every play it seems. Cliff Ryan is solid, but we need an elite DT.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
there are no QBs worth taking in the 1st round
or else I might want one.
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
Heard McCoy stock dropping
I could see us taking him in the second
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
don't really want him
overrated
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
thanks the birds

JordansDad - November 29, 2009
there may not be anyone who fits that description
I mean we should definitely at least take one, but I’m not going to get my hopes up.
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
yes I'd like to know
because there should be some steals left in the second
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
You have to start with defense
Just my opinion mind you.
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
why didn’t spag challenge? Avery caught it, wasn’t until he hit the ground that the CB knocked it loose.
81 Witness - November 29, 2009
That idiot not goign for it on 4th down call set the tone for this fiasco

nah, but I'm too lazy to look for anything else
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
Just got home and caught up to real time
Quick reactions
- Should have gone for it on 4th and 1
- Should have challenged the incompletion call on Avery
- Should win this game

JordansDad - November 29, 2009
DON'T TRY ANOTHER FREAKING FG ALL DAY unless it's in the last minute.
edpjr - November 29, 2009
I Agree
JordansDad - November 29, 2009
What "Suh"p
lol
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Laurinaitis...

TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
the way our DL playing... it'spossible
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Gado sighting
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Gado is garbage
Why is he ahead of Darby on the depth chart?
3k - November 29, 2009
cool name?
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
a better question
Why is he playing ahead of Ogbanaya????
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
BTW
In a Rams uni, Darby is averaging 4.58 yards per run…
3k - November 29, 2009
interestng
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
and Gado is
averaging 2.14
3k - November 29, 2009
Gibson waving arms like a fish again
but he did get the call
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
lol, he does it after every incompletion
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
with Boller he'll be doing that a lot today
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
what I wouldn't give for a league average QB
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
do fish have arms? that was stupid wasn't it?
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Ruvell martin sighting
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Ruvell Martin in the house
Nice play by Boller
3k - November 29, 2009
Other than one high throw (which was catchable)
He’s looked ok
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
and if challenged, may have been ruled a catch
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Yup
Going through his reads, spreading it around. Credit to the Oline too for giving him time to operate.
3k - November 29, 2009
ditto nice play under pressure.
81 Witness - November 29, 2009
Can we get a little more creative with SJax?
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
Probably not
He’s not 100%, so I don’t expect to do much with him but some standard runs. Today is the Kyle Boller Show.
3k - November 29, 2009
+1
Waiting to see if Ogs get’s involved.. thought for sure he would be in ahead of gado
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
LoL Coach
do you really think thats their mindset?
JordansDad - November 29, 2009
Wow
they really keyed in on SJAX…………..not much after that big run
JordansDad - November 29, 2009
You can also tell he's not 100%
Honestly, I’d pull him… as much as I love SJAX he’s doing us no good hurt like that
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
i want an avery td!

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009

mlkgandhiv2k - November 29, 2009
Impressed with Boller early
but will it continue?
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Against Seattle...
maybe. But he’s doomed next week in Chicago and Tennessee. Bad, bad road quarterback.
blindmouse - November 29, 2009
C'mon with all the Doom talk, its Gameday~!!! Gotta Believe!!

Ryan Van Bibber - November 29, 2009
For Everyone Who Said Avery Should Only Run deep Routes
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
doing better with short routes
now that teams aren’t stacking the box as much as they used to
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
I can't see it but
I don’t have a feed of the game but wasn’t it a 1 Yard pass? How did they not stack the box from 1 yard out?
Whatever is working, I’m happy about it!
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
good point Coach... was a pass to the outside though not in middle
but point taken!
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Amazing JAX is hurt...
Shurm opening playbook… and we look halfway decent
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
is he hurt in this game or he still gonna play?
mlkgandhiv2k - November 29, 2009
he's OK but playing not at 100%
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
i feel like I should apologize for
jokes abot the play action bootleg.
actually looking pretty good today
Ryan Van Bibber - November 29, 2009
that was a great play call.
81 Witness - November 29, 2009

Bulger looked like a monkey trying to do a math problem… just not his strong suit
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
LOL

CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
HAHAHAHAHHA
Ron Pitts threw it to commercial with this gem:

3k - November 29, 2009

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009

I was waiting for someone else to point it out.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
Nice deflection by Atogwe
Let’s get another TD, peoples
3k - November 29, 2009

loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
Playmaker Atogwe. :D
As good as Berry looks, we have a pretty damn good safety back there.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
Amendola with a heads up play and display of leadership
telling everyone to get out of the way of the ball… Hall of Fame bound..
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
oh wait, that's just basic football.. sorry
got excited for a moment
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Unfortunately, that kind of basic football is foreign to us Rams' fans...
…so it’s very welcome. :D
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
i almost had flashbacks of last nights ASU u of a game with that punt
dbacks4life - November 29, 2009
Ohh, did anyone else watch MU/KU yesterday?

TrojanRam - November 29, 2009

TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
7 Different recievers have catches already
Not really unusual for the back QB to spread it around
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
Backup QB I mean
I suck kinda
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
punt coming
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Chris Long needs to get himself a sack on this drive.
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
A sack on every drive would be welcome.
:D
He’s been impressive these last 3 weeks. I think he’ll have a say in this game before it’s all said and done.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
impressive
Not the word I’d use. His sacks were his only tackles and 2 of them weren’t really great plays but more like garbage cleanup.
That said….yes, let’s go Chris Long!
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
Hey hey hey...
…I wasn’t talking about the sacks alone. I’ve seen him drive people back a lot and get close, which is as important if not more important. He has put pressure on the last few weeks.
The sacks are a tribute to his effort.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
Getting close is not as or more important
And getting no other tackles is a problem. But the sacks are indeed a tribute ot his effort, a lot of guys would not have sustained the effort long enough to get them, thats true
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
Hmmm...
…does anyone else feel like on 3rd and short, it should either go to Amendola or Boller should just scramble? Somehow I’m more confident in those. By 3rd short I mean about 3-4 yards when our star RB isn’t 100%.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Great 1st down run
I love a good 4-yard run on 1st. You can open the playbook for 2nd down. Donnie Avery?
3k - November 29, 2009
Eh
Defensive holding instead of a big reception. Oh well.
3k - November 29, 2009
good call 3k
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Not even my call
It’s the way things work. You get a 4-6 yard run on 1st down, you can take a shot on 2nd or try your trick play or whatnot. Our problem is that we usually either get nothing against a 9-man box, or AxJax gets us another 1st down.
3k - November 29, 2009
pass interference
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
the rams get a PI call?

Gado damnit!
3k - November 29, 2009
Gado again... why
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
I don't think anyone can answer that
What does he have to do to lose his spot on the depth chart to Darby? He’s absolute garbage!
3k - November 29, 2009
He’s absolute garbage
Wow
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
God damnit Gado...
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
seriously, why!
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
hmmm
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Rams only 1 penalty so far
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Interesting situation
3rd and 3. Too far to run. Amendola, Avery, Gibson, Martin or TE?
3k - November 29, 2009
Wow, Martin
Wouldn’t have been my answer.

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Who would you say is our best reciever now between Amendola and Avery?
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
Gotta start throwing on 1st down again
They’re run blitzing everyone. I think they sent 10 that time
3k - November 29, 2009

loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
I'm waiting for Donnie to go deep on a play action call...
…come on Shurmur!!!
I’ll settle for a flea flicker, which is really an elaborate play-action.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
play action on 1st down deep to avery
mlkgandhiv2k - November 29, 2009
TD gauranteed
mlkgandhiv2k - November 29, 2009
Something interesting to think about
what if Boller wins a few games and looks good rest of the way
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009

2 bad Calls By Spags
should have went for it the first time, kicked FG the second
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Agreed
And shouldn’t ever put Gado on the field before Darby
3k - November 29, 2009
If Josh makes that FG, it wouldn't have been a bad call...
…hindsight is always 20/20. Your expect your number 1 paid kicker to make a 40 yarder or so. The second 4th was from about 52.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
10 different recievers now with the 2 RB's getting grabs
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
3k In all honestly...
Is this a concern… these bad decisions.. .we’ve seen a few this year, not only play calling, but WHO is in…
Or is this a learning deal for them and not a concern
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Certainly a concern
But it’s obviously not as big a deal in your first year as it is afterwards. Look at Les Miles, the coach at LSU. When you’ve been a head coach for multiple seasons, you are expected to be prepared for every situation. Spags is learning by failing; with every mistake, he learns a lesson. So while it is a concern, I’m not nearly as worried about these kinds of decisions in year 1. Year 2 (and especially beyond)? I’ll be furious.
3k - November 29, 2009
point taken
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
There's a lot to think about for a head coach
things he never had to worry about before. You’d think they must’ve managed a clock before now and should have it down, but they have a lot more on their plates for the first time in their careers. (they = HC, OC, DC)
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
terrible clock management
TheBirds - November 29, 2009

SJAX not 100% (Gado in? huh?)
Boller looks good
Ruvell who? Another diamond? hmmm
Avery another TD
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
One was a bad call because it didn't work
pretty simplistic, isn’t it? If it worked, he’d look genius.
In an earlier game this year, people were up in arms because they didn’t go for it on some risky play call and had (at the time) an 0-fer record.
But that’s how they hand out the credit and blame for head coaches and quarterbacks I guess
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
yea, hindsight :-)
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
I guess you can’t look at a play that didn’t work and say it was the right thing to do. Some times I want to though

is getting Boller smashed, maybe they should put Null in. How hurt can a guy get in one quarter?
moy - November 29, 2009
You wanna end his career already?
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
no but we don't need Boller's career to end today either?
moy - November 29, 2009
Boller's career died...
…in Baltimore….
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
Brown walking around on sideline.. I like that
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Dammit, I miss Cogs/Smith/Brown.
Their absence is felt.
We need another DE for sure. After a DT. These runs are killing my soul.
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
+10
moy - November 29, 2009
Next year we WILL be better
DT – QB – DE – OLB – WR
My main worry is play calling and OC… still not even close to be sold on Shurmer… 3k was right earlier by saying Spags will be fine…
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
If they don;t go with Null it'll be beacause
they don’t want the Seahags D line to destroy his confidence….they’re playing well against our backups right now
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
i like it
Danteslion - November 29, 2009
wish we had one more veteran qb
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
I hate to think the Seahwaks are dominating our D line, but thats whats happening
And do they consider playing Null in a game where the other team’s D is killing us so badly? Maybe not
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
does mare have
helium in the ball
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
Good play call
Slow em down a little
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
if we get the ball again
i say null then
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
I don't know about that call
I’ll take it, but that was weak
3k - November 29, 2009
Danny's runnin the smack!
Love it, compete!
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
?
Where did that whistle come from?
3k - November 29, 2009
He wasn't down
dbcouver - November 29, 2009
Boller waking up
Thanks for coming back
3k - November 29, 2009
Score? Coming up?
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
Amendola couldn't repeat his catch
from Arizona. Oline looking better.
3k - November 29, 2009
more time for sure
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
He's looking good though, productive
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
probably because it's just prevent defense
although I can’t watch the game so I can’t really tell.
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
All prevent...
…counterproductive would be my word. The first half was fine, then the pressure got to him more consistently in the second half…
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
missed reception on the 5 yard line-amendola
dbcouver - November 29, 2009
oh oh
dbcouver - November 29, 2009
Ugly throw from Boller on 3rd and 3
What is the reason we’re not playing Null?
3k - November 29, 2009
let me text Spags, will report back
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
tell him 3k said
to take a DT in the 1st and get a new trainer.
3k - November 29, 2009
and new OC?
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Shurmur deserves another season at least
If he struggles as much in 2010, then sure, find someone else. But to give anyone the 2009 Rams’ offense and expect anything is a recipe for disaster.
3k - November 29, 2009
just lost my friggin feed
dbcouver - November 29, 2009
me to
and cause boller gives us our best chance to lose
Danteslion - November 29, 2009
ok null time if we get the ball
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
Null time
but handoffs to Gado
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Null was in???
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
no, just saying, most likely scenerio
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Someone's aggressive ad blocker made my feed hang up
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
i wanna see jackson gett 100 yards he just needs 12 more
Danteslion - November 29, 2009
I never thought I would want Null in...
…but I really do now…:(
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
sjax should be done
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Well
There’s the stop. Null & Darby?
3k - November 29, 2009

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009

TrojanRam - November 29, 2009

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009

VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Now I'm flicking you off
dbcouver - November 29, 2009

giantdonkey - November 29, 2009
TD boller... nice scramble
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Whats that
dbcouver - November 29, 2009
Credit to Boller for effort
He’s not mailing it in
3k - November 29, 2009
I still want Null...
…spread offense!!!
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
Worth another year to me.
dbcouver - November 29, 2009
Boller's best game as a Ram
reviewing TD… gimme break, let him have it
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
ok we are going to win now
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
Boller look like a viable backup option?
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Behing Jason Campbell?
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
waiting for boo birds
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
i like the way you think
Ryan Van Bibber - November 29, 2009
way better than week 1
with less talent
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
No TD
ball at 1
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
and sjax still in
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
TD sjax
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
just hand it to him
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
SJAX limps to 89 yds and a TD
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
and SJAX
all the way in
moy - November 29, 2009
i dont see why null cant do that? at least give him some experience
Danteslion - November 29, 2009
+1
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
*applauds steven jackson*
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
do we onside it now?
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
23 carries, 89yds... 3.9 avg and a TD at less than 100%
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
We had absolutley no second half adjustments
that is our worst fault
moy - November 29, 2009
ok it's over
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
see ya next week gang
VTramsFan - November 29, 2009
Thank God for my fantasy team...
…:D
TrojanRam - November 29, 2009
later everyone
Danteslion - November 29, 2009
put Suh in
wait…
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
peace out
moy - November 29, 2009
spags needs to work on some areas of coaching
can’t let people use the excuse that it’s not his fault because we aren’t talented
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
if boller hadn't thrown
one of those picks, we could have won
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
he didn't have much to work with
getting hurried constantly
Ryan Van Bibber - November 29, 2009
Good game guys
That was futile but the Rams need a QB and not Boller/Bulger. Clausen or Bradford should do you good.
Try and get a win the rest of the season! Please beat Arizona.
SSreporters - November 29, 2009
Bradford would just get hurt with our O-line
Clausen is a tough SOB, I wouldn’t mind him, just not too early.
TheBirds - November 29, 2009
How much did the Rams miss Karney today
Jackson 3.9 YPA…
And, sorry, Goldberg’s a better G than T. I officially am down on Barron again. Seriously, was there a play where Boller didn’t get hurried? That’s why you can’t put Null in the game. Even before Brown left the game the line was looking a litle rough. What if Boller had a stud WR to throw to?
Ryan Van Bibber - November 29, 2009
I agree, thats why we couldn't put Null in today
But I would say they still need to find a way in another game. I don’t think there will be one where they are runaway winners so it’d have to be against someone who’s outscoring us heavily. If they could only get all the starting O-Linemen back, except for Bell, that’d be enough for me to want Null in. They had started playing well together…
CoachConnors - November 29, 2009
play action started getting a little too
predictable also. the guards couldn’t hold the ends for that long
loyal2therams - November 29, 2009
Injurys lead to a loss
3 of the starting offensive lineman were out today. Then Karney’s injury was a tough loss too. I hope they’ll be back for next week against the bears.
brians rams - November 29, 2009
Needs
This teams a DT and QB desperately.
Another thing is I hate the Seahags and if the Rams were only going to win two games this season I’d wish it would be against the Seahags.
brians rams - November 29, 2009
WE NEED A QUARTBACK !!!!!
ZamRam - November 29, 2009 via mobile
WE NEED A QUARTBACK !!!!!
Bradford should be our 1st pick.
ZamRam - November 29, 2009 via mobile
I was at the game
I must say, Gibson did not look too good. I’m one of the people that loved him from day 1, but the last two weeks, he has not looked too good. Another thing, losing is way worse when you pay to see it.
