Watching the game unfold this Sunday, I kept wondering why the Rams weren't throwing more balls to WR Keenan Burton. Turns out, Burton was playing hurt with a knee injury sustained the week before against the Eagles.
Burton will have an MRI to determine whether or not he'll need arthroscopic surgery on his knee. If that's the case, Burton could be out for several weeks. No denying the kid has the right attitude - something some of his teammates seem to lack - as he tried to play through it without saying anything. Unfortunately, for as much as we like to see a player with heart, players put their long-term playing time at risk as well as pose a risk to the team when they do that. And there's no need to ruin your career for the 2008 version of the Rams.
Donnie Avery was able to practice last week, but didn't see much time against the Eagles. He'll be active against Seattle this week, and I for one would like to see him play a role as the third WR. Using Dante Hall in that spot last week gave the Rams nothing, except for a chance to see that Hall has definitely lost a step, a step the speedy Avery can easily replace. Of course, the o-line will have to give the Rams passing game a chance. Using Avery would at least give fans something to root for, some reassurance about the team's second round pick in the draft and the first WR taken.

A little off topic but since you have mentioned Avery
should we now be sorry that we took him with our 2nd rounder? I couldn’t help but notice the performance of Deshwan Jackson both against us and last night against Dallas. Wasn’t he available with that pick too or is there reason to hope Avery will be better?
Also couldn’t help but notice how easily Dallas’ O line handled the Phillies (or whatever they are called) pass rush and how often they opened running lanes. After watching the Philly D against us, I thought they might be one of the best in the business but they sure got exposed last night. How do you give up a 42 yard pass play with 10 seconds left in the half to allow a field goal?

jackson
desean jackson had 1 round talent, obviously, but some people were worried enough about what was between his ears that they took him off their draft board completely.

i'm willing to give the Rams rookie WRs
the benefit of the doubt. it’s not like the parts around them are clicking. Bulger can barely pass with all the pressure the line’s allowing.

He kind of proved his detractors right last night on his almost-a-touchdown.
Tackle Box - September 16, 2008
exactly
he got a big head from playing against Tye Hill in week 1
Ryan Van Bibber - September 16, 2008
hill
hill would have been far enough behind him to pick up the ball when he dropped it, so that’s a positive.

More bad news
I had high hopes for Burton’s progression this year, too. Dang.
bigwood25 - September 16, 2008
don't give up on Burton yet
he’ll miss time, but should be back

FunkeeC - September 16, 2008

ah yes, lets continue to call names
yes, i think it has clearly been agreed on by most on this board and all over that it is time to clean house up top where these decisions are made. so no, you are not special in saying this
and while you may have plenty of legit points to make, it is lost in all the useless, hateful, and pointless name calling you fill your posts with. its football. i hope you have better things in your life to worry about. it seems to me you could use some perspective
and now i will shut up and stop feeding the trolls

and were all the STEVEN JACKSON FANS NOW LOL
STEVEN J. has been stumbling on the turf since he first came to the rams, all alone brake away run and he just stumble and fall with no one around him, Steven J. is not even pimple on Marshal Faulks ass , and we should have drafted McFADEN thats if we had some one smart drafting for us, or at least FELIX J, or any one of the top 5 RB that were available in this years draft , but this team leadership is long gone , just look at some of the moves they have made, they cut our full back, and he now starts for the NY G. on the world champion NYG, we cut our number one draft pic, deffensive Tackle Ryan Picket, who was the only number one draft pic out of 3 number one pics , that was any good , and we let him go to the GBP, He starts for there deffence and is there best linemen on the team, we let IKE Bruce go and keep Drue benet , what a joke, this general manager and coach suck so bad , every thing they have done in the last three years shows the team we have right now, its all on them Zibmund and Linehan , they have both ruined the Rames in every say, phicologicaly ,mentaly and phisicaly, no leadership , no personality and no will to win, this team sucks, its beond pathetic , in my 50 years of following football this is the worst team i have ever seen in the NFL
THANK YOU SCOTT LINEHAN for showing us that you can take one of the most explosive offenses in football and turn them in to THE LAMBS
ZIGMUND I HOPE YOU DIE , I REALY PRAY THAT YOU HAVE A MASSIVE HART ATACK AND DROP DEAD NOW , YOU PEACE OF SHIT
JAMES
james535 - September 16, 2008
Hart Atacks, etc.
Christ, James, I think I speak for everyone else is saying you’re fucking retarded. Seriously. My IQ just dropped a point after reading your latest spectacular abuse of basic grammar and the English language. Hope YOU have a “hart atack.”
Go Rams.
bigwood25 - September 16, 2008
Maybe it is flatulence... "fart attack?"
The guy is inebriated at 3:00PM. Sure hope Obama can find him a job come inaguration time in January.
And I am sure the Lord above answers prayers that request killing someone for the sake of a sports team. Worthwhile. James, I hope you can start praying for Whirled Peas.
