Well, they've been talking up a running back pretty heavily lately, and when there's buzz around Ricky Williams you know they're probably pretty serious.
Brian Leonard is a good fit because he has the running and pass catching ability to give the Rams a pretty good option to ease Jackson's workload. And the dual running backs, not just the old starter and a back up system is definitely an emerging trend the NFL.
There's also the fact that the guy spent a good bit of his last year in college as the primary blocker for Ray Rice and the kid can block against the blitz, from what it sounds like. When you think about the offense, which has become impressively well-rounded, under Linehan, the Leonard pick makes perfect sense, as he fills several key roles.
Maybe it's the weed at the end of a long day of hauling beds and dressers and chairs, but I'm really liking what I see as Linehan's offense this year - with apologies to Denzel's kid.

We'll need it
As we apparently have no plans of stopping the run next year. I'm warming to this year's selections, but no NT and we didn't feel the need to draft one linebacker? Our red zone offense should be the best we've seen in a while, but where's the defense?strugglemonkey - April 30, 2007
Carriker
plays the run really well and they're counting on him to play inside against the run immediately, even talking of switching him to NT.Don't discount those later round DTs they took too. COuld turn out to be real bargains.
At the very least, I think the run defense should be improved enough to rank among the middle tier of run defenses, maybe on the lower end of them, but a long way from the 150 yards a game days.

Get ready
no doubt we'll be in for some shoot outs but, as always, I'm optimistic for this season. You have to expect SOME improvement from J Kennedy and hope for some competent play from Carriker and Glover. Also, I expect elivated play from Wroten. Chris Draft helps a ton in terms of lb depth but I agree, we could have used one in the draft. Plus, another year in the system should help.
